Please vote. Do yourself a huge favor and sift thru all the BS and find what is true or works for you. After watching the State of the Union address and all the "debates", the load of crap is deep and daunting to try to find what's actually true and what's fluff.

In the past, I haven't given a shit or thought that my vote would count for anything. Meanwhile, fanatics from both the left and the right are the ones shaping our country.

I know I'm not the only Gen X'er on this site and many of you are Z and after. With the Tea Party and Occupy movements, it is obvious to anyone paying attention that this nation is upset and needs to head in a different direction than it is now. It starts and ends with us. Who we vote for now will have a profound effect on our lives later.

I'm not saying who to vote for, either (although I will be voting for Obama). It would behoove all of you to think about your future, your children's future (because many of you that don't have them (children), will), and speak up. Be it Ron Paul, Mitt Romney or whoever strikes your fancy, please vote for who you think best represents you and YOUR interests. You'd only be doing yourself a favor.

I, personally, have a huge interest in debating/discussing politics. It can be a burden, however, since it is a pretty touchy subject, and it is extremely easy to offend people (not that I try, people get offended for different views, which makes no sense to me.)

Anyway, I am under 18, so I cannot vote in this election. I agree with you though, the right to vote is a right that people in the U.S. take for granted. Look at the people in countries in the middle east. They have no rights to vote (and if they do, it has been proven that some of these countries rig the vote.)

U.S. Politics are flawed, yes. But, as being able to have the right to vote is a right that should be used. That is what our forefathers fought for. And this goes for other Western Countries who's people have the right to vote: Use your right. Don't take it for granted.

And since people will probably be posting their opinions: As mentioned, I will be too young to vote in this current election, but I still give my support out to Newt Gingrich. I, however, have no problem with anybody that favors different from me.

Thank you. I've made this same thread on several other sites and yours was the FIRST to reply in support of voting and to hold to what I asked, and keep personal political beliefs out of the thread. Much appreciated.

Well I vote in my country, not that it helped in the end with our stupid, botched coalition government but that's a whole other debate...

But yes, VOTE!

These aren't the droids we're looking for.

Personally, I believe you can't complain about politicians unless you vote (unless you simply can't vote). I lean toward the Republicans because of fiscal reasons; I'm fairly conservative, but not at all religious. I actually have too many conflicting points of view to truly be a Republican or a Democrat. Independent, I suppose, though I'd rather my vote be counted than wasted.

I'm not one to debate politics; I simply state my opinion and be done with it, because I know my views probably won't be popular. The last time I got into politics here was when the healthcare bill was pushed through; I was wholeheartedly against it (and still am).

Last election was the first time I could vote and I got really in to it. This year... not so much. Call me cynical if you want but I'm very much feeling like no matter what we do/say about politics the same handful of people will be pulling all the strings on what actually gets done.

It's like you said... you have to sift through the fluff.... but I'm sick of sifting

I wish I had a candidate I truly liked. Anything over Obama policy wise I guess, but these Republican candidates are horrid.

Agreed. Better than the last election, imo, but it's pretty obvious that most of these guys have absolutely no clue as to how the rest of us live.

Wait, but you gave your political belief, saying you support Obama. What's wrong with me posting my political belief?

I was congratulating you man, without sarcasm. I didn't say anything other than who I would be voting for, same as you. I don't see anything wrong with that, it's not like I'm trying to convince people to vote for or against anyone, and that was what I was thanking you for. I just want people to vote period, regardless of who it is for.
