Hi all, so I don't know if this is a thread worthy question, but at the beginning of next month i'm buying 3 newly released (Or soon to be) games, but sadly due to some heavy bills I can only afford 3 games (Damn you Mr. Dentist). One is Mass Effect 3, another is The Darkness 2, but the third and last full retail priced game I can't decide on, is either gonna be Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning (I do love a good ol' fashioned RPG) or Syndicate (I'm a fan of Starbreeze Studios, and I loved the demo, it had a very unique feel to it)

VOTE AWAY!!!

P.S: Would it be possible for a mod to remove the 2nd option in the poll, added it by mistake.

Sega Does What Nintendon't

I haven't played the new Syndicate yet but rebooting a cult classic into a FPS makes me a tad sick at my stomach so I am going to have to vote for Kingdoms of Amalur. If you happen to have a few extra dollars to spend get the original Syndicate for DOS or the Jaguar. You can pick it up for next to nothing.

Get Amalur, then get the classic re-release of Syndicate from GoG for the proper Syndicate experience. =D

Here's a great big THANK YOU to those of you who recommended KoA: Reckoning. I've played it for about 35 hours now and i'm far from completion, I haven't even popped in Mass Effect 3 because of KoA, it truly is an absolutely amazing RPG.

How is the story? I keep hearing that it's not interesting and that's keeping me from buying it.

What do you think?

That is the same thing that is keeping me away from it, not to mention I am juggling a bunch of games right now. Though, whenever I see it I can't help but think of Fable. IMO Fable has never had a great story, but one good enough to keep you going and I get the same feeling with this game. Really like the art style/graphics from what I have seen. Looks like a modern WoW.

The story is actually quite good, the problem the game has is in its telling of the story, most of the story is told in standard fair RPG dialogue, while it's by no means a bad way of telling a story, it requires memorable set pieces throughout the game to make the story truly stand out. There's only a few set pieces from the main quest that are memorable, which is a shame because the story lends itself so well to a more cinematic approach. 38 Studios definetly made a good, interesting and rather unique storyline along with some great fleshed out characters, the overall execution lacks a cinematic feel though.

BUT, the gameplay and the gameworld is where KoA truly shines, the gameplay has a fantastic flow and the gameworld is detailed, beautiful, varied and filled with interesting characters. If you liked Fable, even just a little, you'll LOVE this game.

Yeah, the story is typical fantasy fair. The main quest is an entertaining ride, though I found it fizzled out a bit toward the end, but it was good enough to keep me entertained. A lot of the side quests are like something from an MMO (KoA was originally intended to be an MMO), so they aren't very engaging at all. KoA's story isn't going to win awards for originality, but I thought it was decent. Like lol_pc said, though, the best part of the game is its combat and the world itself.

You're welcome lol_pc. :)

I'm playing Syndicate right now and I have to say, I would prefer to play KoA by leaps and bounds.
