This may be in the wrong section, but when it comes to gaming, T.V's seem pretty general to me. Anyway, I'm looking for a small, cheap flatscreen (One that could fit on my desk, if only monitors had A/V ports D:) that works well with NES through PS1 systems, and that doesn't make them look like trash, does anyone here have a T.V or know of one like this? Also, to make this thread a bit more interesting, what kind of T.V do you game on, and do you have another for your older systems? Right now, I own a 32 inch LG LCD T.V from a few years back, it looks nice with the newer systems, but older...not too much. |

invest in a $5 tube TV off craigslist. Most flat screen TV's are not in 480i |

only way to go I have a 50 inch flat screen and while it does still look nice it doesn't compare to a tube. Remember that those consoles were created with the intended use being a tube TV |

There are some really sharp, desktop-sized flat screen CRT's out there that should be perfect for what you're looking for. My local retro game store has a bunch of pint-sized Panasonics set up that look fantastic. Like others have said, I bet that if you troll around your local thrift stores or Craigslist ads, you can find a nice set for cheap. Like yours, my LCD TV (a 42" Samsung) is great for modern gaming, but is pretty lousy at decoding an analog signal--some digital TV's are better at this than others. So I looked high and low for a CRT to best recreate that oldschool "arcade experience." I landed a Sony Trinitron KV-32HS20. It's sort of an oddball in that it has the classic 4:3 aspect ratio that you want for retro gaming, but can also broadcast is 1080i. Retro gaming's never looked better! Here she is: Also, she's a total fatty, even for a 32" tube TV: |
