I'm wondering if anybody has any suggestions on any anime to check out. I'm fully aware that Adult Swim shows anime on Saturdays, so please no suggestions to watch the anime they show (as i already watch it). Thank you!

VGM Enthusiast Posts: 163 Group: Members Member #3,422 Joined: Feb 11, 2011	I have no idea what's on Adult Swim, so I'm just gonna recommend whatever I think are fantastic anime: Really popular anime, but I'm gonna mention them anyway (cause I love them some much): --Cowboy Bebop --Full Metal Alchemist --Full Metal Alchemist: Brotherhood --Death Note --Neon Genesis Evangelion --Berserk --The Big O --any Studio Ghibli movie Maybe lesser known: --Slayers (fun sword and sorcery anime with lost of humour and great characters) --Baccano (Really smart, but also kinda complicated series, but very well done and original) --Monster (Horror/drama series...truly one of a kind, can drag on a bit here there, but definitely a masterpiece) --Legend of Crystania (great "serious" sword and sorcery series) --Big Windup (great "sports" anime about baseball, really something different, but I enjoyed it a lot) --Honey and Clover (Drama series, about a group of art school students....one of the best of it's kind) --Darker than Black (Fantastic action/sc-fi series) --Noir (about two female assasins, drags a bit on at the start, but becomes better towards the end) --Guin Saga (another great fantasy anime, with music from Final Fantasy composer Nobuo Uematsu) --Bodacious Space Pirates (ridiculous name, but one of the better brand new shows now airing in Japan) --Fairy Tale & Soul Eater (both these shows kinda fall in the same category as Dragonball/Bleach/Naruto/One Piece) --Inuyasha (rather long-winding show that I've always enjoyed a lot..although a lot of the episodes seem alike) --Paranoia Agent (not an easy watch, but truly one of a kind!) Movies --Roujin Z (Great movie about an old man in a mechanized bed and a young girl who finds out the bed is a secret weapons project by the government) --Tokyo Godfathers (probably my favorite anime movie ever. A cast of three homeless people find a baby and kinda go on an adventure to return the baby to it's parents) -- Lupin ~ The Castle of Cagliostro (what do I need to say about this one...it's a classic, everyone needs have to seen it) --Red Line (You need to seen this one to believe it. A new movie, but already falls in the same category as classics like Akira and Ghost in the Shell) I could go on forever, but that's it for now, maybe I'll post some more later.

Also Serial Experiments Lain and Pet Shop of Horrors were kind of overlooked short series that stuck out. Inuyasha was on Adult Swim for a while too, got HUGE as far as I know, but what about Trigun? I was thinking about giving it a watch but don't know much about it. Oh, and back onto movies, the original Appleseed was cool, Biohunter was fun, and then you have the popular ones like Vampire Hunter D and Ninja Scroll that were cool . Oh, and what was that ninja anime with kids learning ninjitsu and they all had these headbands on? Naruto? How is that one? Edited by SCScanlan, Feb 25 2012, 02:44 AM.

New User Posts: 13 Group: Members Member #4,743 Joined: Feb 7, 2012	if you're in to mech anime i would recommend watching first neon genesis evangelion and if you cannot watch evangelion i would recommend gasaraki or rahxephon which is a rip off evangelion, but if you're into maybe mahou shoujo (which means magical girl) i would recommend sailor moon, mai hime or mai otome hime or even mew mew power, sakura card captors this one is very old or even shugo chara, a lot of comedies like great teacher onizuka, detroit metal city, excel saga, arakawa under the bridge, full metal panic! fumoffu now this one is golden oldie, this one is about a soldier from some unknown mercenary unit called mithril (awesome name too XD) that is charged with protecting a high school student called kaname chidor, spoiler alert sorry i guess i got carried away but well if you're into super powers i would strongly recommend X this series is not bad it's actually quite cool but anyways if you have any more questions on anime press the select button and contact me by codec my frequency is 141.27 or you can just sent a private message which ever you want XD

New User Posts: 24 Group: Members Member #5,038 Joined: May 6, 2012	everyone pretty much said the great ones, so I'll just add some: - Trigun - Rurouni Kenshin - .hack//SIGN, .hack//LIMINALITY - X TV (from CLAMP, you have to watch this one!!) - Patlabor - Serial Experiments Lain - Excel Saga (for some laughs) - Saint Seiya - YuYu Hakusho - Captain Tsubasa (if you like Soccer anime) - One Outs (Baseball... I didn't think this one would be any good, but WOW! It's Awesome!!) Of course, I can't recommend any Fullmetal Alchemist enough (watch the regular series first, then Brotherhood) - Great Teacher Onizuka (pretty funny too) - Cinderella Boy (don't get carried away by the title, it's great) - Mouse (maybe a little too ecchi) - Love Hina For some family time, every Studio Ghibli movie, but you probably already know some of them. Last, you HAVE TO WATCH Wolf's Rain!!! Believe me, you'll thank me later ;D

Crossover guru Posts: 1,145 Group: Members Member #3,708 Joined: Apr 11, 2011	I would highly recommend Votoms. I just watched the first volume and I'm hooked on it! It's a very amazing anime. Though I must tell you, it was made in the 80's, so I'm not sure if you are in to old school anime, but if you can put aside the age, you will really enjoying. Best part of it is, the series is dirt cheap on amazon. You can get it for 5 bucks! It's worth it!

Don't let the crazy amount of episodes scare you off. You will quickly become hooked and end up wanting more. One Piece isn't just my favorite anime. It's the greatest story ever told.

My favorite series are Clannad, Death Note, Cowboy Bebop, Samurai Champloo, Neon Genesis Evangelion. I used to watch a lot of the lengthy anime series like Naruto, Bleach and One Piece but gave up around 2009. Anime movies are always great of course, especially the works of Studio Ghibli!
