Ever since the announcement of the new Smash Bros. game, everyone's going nuts with there wishlists posting who they wish to appear on the game. Some of these are ridiculous. Everyone wants everybody to be in this game. They want Goku. They want Ryu. They want Nathan Drake. They want Mega Man. They want Crash Bandicoot. Heck, one person on youtube said they want "Pony". Who the heck is Pony? Do they mean Rainbow Dash? Well whatever the case, I'm feel like I'm the only one who wants the new Smash Bros. to go back to being a first party crossover game. When Brawl came out with Sonic and Snake, I'll admit I was excited at first but when I played the game, I realized just who out of place they were in a Nintendo filled game. I now believe that Smash Bros. does the crossover best when it's just Nintendo. But upon looking for information on it, there have been (supposed) leaks. Rumors are flying about saying that they are going to put Dragon Quest slimes and Konami is being considered, all the while I'm going "NO NO NO NO!". No more 3rd party characters. I want the new Smash Bros. to be 100% Nintendo. I really feel that if they add more 3rd party characters, it's going to ruin the Smash Bros. series. I really don't want to happen. I mean Capcom, one of the kings of crossover video games, have ruined the Marvel vs. series by nickel and diming everyone and killed the franchise. I feel that the new Smash Bros. is going to do the same thing, not by lacking but by putting too much in it. I really hope that there will be no 3rd party characters, but I feel that they are going to do it. But at least not in the magnitude that some of these wishful thinkers are blabbering about. For those who want everyone in the new Smash Bros. game, I got one word for you: MUGEN. Edited by J-R, Feb 27 2012, 03:10 AM.

I really wouldn't mind "True to Nintendo" 3rd party characters, but you are right about "Goku", "Pony" and etc. That is really ridiculous. In the end though, why would they be in Super Smash Brothers in the first place. How did they benefit Nintendo? |

I do agree with mostly having Nintendo owned characters, although I believe Sonic should be an exception due to his appearance in Brawl. But we don't need Goku, or My Little Ponies (like Twilight Sparkle) in this game. |

I totally agree with you, I also was really excited when I first found out Snake would be in Brawl but, as you said, he did seem quite out of place in a SSB game. I really feel that they should just stick with Nintendo characters for the new SSB game, with the exception of maybe Sonic. I mean, it's not like there is a shortage of characters to choose from. |

I don't share your opinion. But with the way you presented it, it seems rather outlandish the characters you suggested. It's not even viable to suggest second party Sony characters or videogame irrelevant characters, because those characters absolutely do not have a chance in even being remotely considered. But I personally wouldn't mind long time iconic video game characters being choices for the next iteration of Super Smash Bros. For instance, Bomberman is a third party character that would fit right in, and it wouldn't take away from experience if others like Bomberman were in. And really, if you look past the characters as being licensed and owned by Nintendo, SSB has a wide variety of characters with little to nothing in common. To open up the barrier to iconic characters from the past and present wouldn't destroy that variety, because the variety is already there. I mean, I can understand if you have an attachment to Nintendo, but it doesn't necessarily take away from the experience if there are Nintendo characters AND the additional third party characters. Of course, you could say it would close the doors for other Nintendo characters, but it seems Nintendo would be scraping the bottom of the barrel if they were to get arguably tertiary characters like Dixie Kong or a dozen more pokemons to choose from. All the major Nintendo characters have been represented, well, maybe I'd like to see Isaac personally.

Smash Bros is a fighter featuring Nintendo characters. I dont want to see random characters, especially if they arent video game characters. Sonic is the only exception since he has been Mario's rival. |

I always thought I was alone on this issue but it's great to see that I'm not the only one. |
