So during my research today I found out about the CVC GameLine (which was produced by AOL before the company became America Online). It was a modem that connected to the Atari 2600 and one could download a game through the internet (though it advertise it being download through the phone line because many had yet to know what the internet was). For the longest time I thought that the Sega Dreamcast was the game console to hook up to the internet.

The GameLine is like the Sega Channel. Instead of the cartridge being connected to the cable line it was connected to a phone line which would download a full game in 60 seconds or less (which isn't that impressive because there was not a lot of data to send). This would have been a very interesting product but sadly it was released in 1983, during the video game crash. Very few people probably experienced this.
