This is a revival of this thread, which I considered an immense failure on my part. Too many a-holes (such as myself) chose "Metal / Hard Rock / Old School Rock". Anyways, to counter this problem, I've adjusted the poll a bit to disperse that large group who chose "Metal / Hard Rock / Old School Rock". I'll probably say it again and again, these categories are open for interpretation and bleed into one another. Since that can be the case, I'm allowing 4 votes so you guys can best describe the kind of music you gravitate towards. It's up to you whether you want to choose 4 or not. (: MAINSTREAM definitely means Top 40 in your country, but it could also mean anything muzak, or anything you consider 'mainstream'. FOREIGN MAINSTREAM is up to your interpretation of what foreign is. It could be j-pop or k-pop girl groups if you live in America. But I don't know if this would cause a contradiction for people living in European countries who, for instance, are exposed to and like Lady Gaga (?..). So I'm not going to concretely say what really consists as foreign mainstream. But I'd like to suggest that something like Franz Ferdinand, The Ting Tings or La Roux wouldn't be considered foreign for someone like myself living in the America.. DANCE, I had to include the disclaimer that this includes anything you can dance to, so it can be Top 40, their remixes, Dub-Step, Techno, Salsa... It's a really wide net of different kinds of music. RAP / HIP HOP / RNB didn't get many votes in the previous poll. I personally don't listen to Rap, but it doesn't seem very popular for me to branch here anyways. INDIE / ALTERNATIVE would include anything from The Smiths, Slint, Pixies, My Bloody Valentine, Sunny Day Real Estate. METAL, the majority of you guys will choose this. Meaning, if you like Death, Black, Thrash, Suicidal Misanthropic blackgaze or whatever else metal, this is the end all be all metal. HARD ROCK / AOR PROGRESSIVE, this could extend to many different kinds of musical styles conceptually, but it's mainly aimed for people who like King Crimson, Pink Floyd, Marillion, Porcupine Tree, Dream Theater, etc. But I'm going to say that any other musical style that incorporates prog is fair game, because they technically are prog. PSYCHEDELIC / BAROQUE is for Beatles and the Beatles-esque, but I'm aware that many Prog/Indie artists are also this, so it's what you make of it. ELECTRONIC.. Er, I don't have much to say about this yet. |

I like my metal. another one I like is Rapcore, which is like a mix of rap and metal/punk. I think its great. |

I have a wide range of music tastes. But my favorites are any type of classic rock, heavy metal, hard rock, or just anything bad ass enough.
