For everyone who is sore at Capcom, listen to this episode of the TV and Lust Podcast.

http://tvandlust.net/?p=7826

Specifically 1:16:30 - 1:26:20

After listening I don't understand how anyone could think that Capcom is a greedy corporation. Now I would even go as for to say it's "consumer greed" not "corporation greed."

No need to listen to a podcast to know that a large game developer, gaming company

-edit-

No need to listen to a podcast to know that a large company PERIOD is greedy.

Pretty much. Whatever happened to being allowed to unlock extras by, you know, playing the game? It's greed that dictates that we must pay for the shit twice or go without.

Why shouldn't I be pissed off? I paid the equivalent of about $85 for Street Fighter X Tekken, it's an amazing game and I love Street Fighter. But this is bullshit, if it's on the disc that means they had it finished when the game went gold, then they decided to charge players for content they already have sitting in their console or in their game case. It would be the same as a book publisher making you pay for the ending of a book.

Wrap it anyway you want, but Capcom is taking massive advantage of their fanbase, i've been a loyal fan of the SF franchise since SFII, and i've looked past many of the bullshit moves Capcom has pulled the last few years, but now it's enough.

And to think one would assume Capcom would be on their best behavior after the whole MegaMan ordeal.

Apparently not

Sorry, but it is BS no matter what anybody says. So I refuse to buy this game.
Why couldn't they have waited to release the console versions the same time as the Vita version so we could have all the characters?

I know it's not a very popular opinion, but I don't see a lot of room to complain here.

If you bought the game before anyone knew about the extra content on the disc, you assessed it to have a $60 value and that's what you paid. Great. If you knew about the extra characters on the disc and paid $60 anyway, then that's on you.

In neither of these scenarios is Capcom taking extra money out of your pocket, forcing you to buy the game, or baiting you into buying one product and switching it for another.

Invariably, someone is going to argue "Yes, but the 12 extra characters will be free on the Vita version this fall." And that might be true, but how much do you think the PS3 and 360 versions will cost six months from now? Definitely not $60...most likely $40. This fall, add the purchase price of the PS3/360 game to the cost of the DLC and I'd be surprised if it didn't add up to exactly $60. And if you're bummed about paying $80 for a game that will cost Vita owners $50, remember that's the price you pay for being an early adopter. I'm sure Vita owners are just as disappointed that they have to wait six more months to get their game.

If you really, truly disagree with Capcom's business practices, don't buy the game. It's a business. Your dollars speak way louder than complaining on a web forum.

This.
The people cry about DLC on Disc are the same people who whine when a console drops price after they bought theirs and then expect some sort of free thing in return.

Ds Games!

To me it doesn't really make any difference if the DLC is physically on the disk or not. Either way I have to pay extra for it, and if I think it's worth it, I'll pay for it. The fact tat it's on the disc doesn't make it any better or worse to me, unless the company came out and said that took a full feature game, went back and shortened it, to force you to buy the ending or something similar.

I'm not going to listen to the podcast or insult your point of view. It isn't mine however. Capcom, Activision, and EA are the leaders in raping the gaming community as a whole. Unfortunately, it will continue as long as people go out and buy their products in droves. It's the parents that don't have any idea what their kids are playing and the guys like ourselves that try to overlook things that shouldn't be a business practice because it isn't sustainable. Each game franchise is essentially a "resource". When companies use up that resource and discard it, that franchise is essentially dead and there isn't anyone to blame but those that continued to support that unsustainable business practice.

I SUCK AT GAMES

I feel that they did. They burned me bad with MvC3 especially considering they only gave us two DLC characters that were overpriced at $5 a piece, and then made the game obsolete less than a year later. Even though I didn't like having a new Street Fighter IV version coming out every year, at least they gave us the ability to pay $15 extra to upgrade to the Arcade Edition via DLC which they didn't do for MvC3. Plus Mortal Kombat felt like a better package overall, and provided a ton of content while MvC3 felt bare bones.

Now hearing that they locked out 12 characters from SF x Tekken and are charging $20 for them on top of $60 when they're already on the disc is just crap. I don't mind them putting what they can onto the disc DLC wise if it isn't ready yet, but considering hackers are accessing these characters and are able to play them is unacceptable. So I'm waiting for the Ultimate version of this, used.

I don't understand why they have chosen to make all these bad decisions so far. Are they doing it because they are genuinely greedy? Or are they just genuinely not right in the head and feel what they're doing is the right thing to do? I mean, they have to know that the internet is a powerful place and what they do is going to get noticed almost instantaneously. With the internet, feedback (wether positive or negative) is going spread like wildfire. And all the current comments and feedback going around the internet at the moment (particularly the ones about them canceling Megaman on the 3DS after all the fan involvement. What's the point of giving the fans a voice if you're going to put your fingers in your ears?) could potentially affect their relationship with fans/customers and affect future sales. They need to take their fingers out of their ears and start listening to the fans again. Afterall, the fans are the customers and customers are are what a company needs to survive.

The fact that it is already on disk or not is no issue with me.

Since the rise of SFIV, Capcom has shown to take paid DLC to the extreme, costumes and characters indiviually. Releasing an updated version of said game after 6-9 months.

I loved Street Fighter IV and Super Street Fighter IV, I picked up Marvel vs Capcom 3 but didn't play it that much. SFxT looks great for sure, I love both franchises but Capcom took advantage of me one to many so I will wait until SSFxT comes out and get that for 25 euro...

I just decide to not buy it anymore until I think I get my money's worth.

The biggest letdown of Capcom remains not releasing Ace Attorney Investigations 2 in English. Now that got me butthurt!

I cant say i agree with the on disc DLC but then again i dont really agree with the complaints so much either. If you dont like it then dont buy it at the end of the day, its as simple as that.

I think the guys on the podcast missed the mark a little bit, thier comparisons dont really make much sense. I personally think that Capcom are ripping off people by using on disc DLC, but i dont buy thier games new either.

If you dont agree with thier practices then dont support em with your money. They'll learn soon enough.
