Never knew it was a competition :) I for one always think quality over quantity, but if you want to go solely for quantity, I think you have some work to do if this collection is anything to go by:

Master troll in the house. xD But definitely, what differentiates Pete's room from any game room is the fact that he personally designed the game room. Which is why, I hope, alot of people want to see his current re-design of his room. They to see the bigger picture of his overall design changes rather than a beefier room with games tacked on the walls. Well, I'm probably wrong, they just want their room tour. lol

I'd rather have a collection of quality games that I actually play versus a wall full of crappy ones that will just collect dust. In my opinion, the best kinds of collectors are the ones that take their time, seek out the games they want and build a solid collection of quality titles. Buying games by the truckload and having no real concept of their quality or how much enjoyment you'll get out of them seems fairly pointless.

But don't you think that's somewhat contradictory towards the community. We all tend to buy more games than we can play, and even Pete did a video buying a box full of Nintendo games. I guess what it comes down to is keeping the games you think or heard are good, while discarding games like the Maddens and such. But in terms of grabbing wholesale games and just putting together some game room.. I hope you feel some form of subjective value towards this game room. Because I couldn't imagine being happy surrounded by genesis sports titles.

Your latter point is what I was aiming at - collecting just for the purpose of amassing a quantity of games and throwing together a game room doesn't seems pointless to me. I mean, we buy games to enjoy and play them, so I wouldn't want a ton of sub-par games that are there just for the purpose of filling space. Having said that, I am as guilty as the next person of buying more games than I have time to play, but they are games that I want and I know I will eventualyl get around to...at least that's the plan.

At the end of the day, what I have said just applies to me and my mentality about gaming and game collecting in general. It's all a matter of personal choice, so if your definition of collecting means buying games wholesale and purchasing in bulk, more power to you. Each to their own :)

Welcome To Warp Zone!

Right on, Browland.

Sometimes I buy lots purely for resale. Sometimes I buy them because there are a few gems in them that are worth more than the cost if bought separately. I'd be horribly depressed if I put every game I've ever bought into my collection. I'm not sure how I'd feel if my shelves were half quality and half Genesis sports titles. On the other hand, I'm going for a complete NES collection, so quantity DOES matter in that regard.

Like I remember when Pete mentioned on AGG how he never played Crystalis (a game me and many consider a classic). And of course, I have games such as Hotel Dusk which I've hardly played. Sometimes there's value in games I probably wont play, and I really don't know how to rationalize that purchase. I wouldn't want to get rid of that game because I think it has some value despite me, myself, having not played the game. But at the same time, I realize that I may never get to playing the game or some games that I own, and I think that's fine.

But in the latter case, I can see sometimes buying wholesale a good thing, but if we always do that... There really wouldn't be any sentimental value. I guess the best way I can describe specifically wholesale is with this analogy: We need a big square clay to sculpt the rudimentary form of our figure, once we got the figure down, we can add, subtract things we don't want or feel is excess.

The store closes tomorrow, did my first pick up of their inventory.

This pick up was all their n64 games, dreamcast games, some random others games, random boxes, joysticks, headset, and probably 400 manuals for games

I go back tomorrow to finish.

If you're amassing stock to open your own store, I hope you have better luck unloading these games than the place you bought them from!

Personally, I don't have the shelf space or the cash to buy games just for the sake of adding numbers to my collection, but to each their own. Maybe there's some gems in there? We've all had to buy a few turds to get the games we want. Heck--there could be a Musha and a Stadium Events on that cart. More than likely, it's full of Mario Bros./Duck Hunts and NBA Jams...but you never know.

EDIT:
Oh shit! You have Mag Max in there. You're boned. :bowserlaugh:

yeah it's not a competition..... I know somebody who has less games then me and he deperately trying to catch up (as if it was a race). He would prefer to bad a bunch of bad sports games then a copy of Ico or a good game like that, just so he can say I'm catching up to you. I myself prefer to buy good games. I had the choice of buying either a few ok to bad games and Intelligent Qube. I obviously went with Intelligent Qube because QUALITY OVER QUANTITY will pay off in the long run! :D

An actual library or museum of video games would be more significant than just another shop.

Yeah, I agree with pretty much everybody else. I have around 320 games in my collection. Not a small amount, but not the biggest either. I have beaten most of the games in my collection. Whenever I think about buying a game, I always ask myself, "Am I going to enjoy and cherish this game for a long time?" I can say for a fact that all of my games I have enjoyed and cherish.
