1. Would you pay for a $5- $10 a month store "subscriber/customer" card, if it meant possibility of free games, discounts on games, games before other people can get them, access to events, among a multitude of other things?

2. If you bought a new game for $60, would you drive to a different store other than Gamestop for an extra $5 on the game? Say Gamestop would give you $35, the other store would give you $40

3. If it were available to you, would you take part in game tournaments?

4. In a store, would you be more willing to buy a game if you were able to play it for 5-10 minutes before purchase?

5. If a store had a more knowledgeable employee there would you be more apt to buy from there, or just go to a chain store where they sell in bulk?

6. ( Question for the parents) If there was a gamestore where you could bring your kids to, to play games and see characters in person like Spongebob, etc, would you rather bring them there, then say Boomers?

7. What things about other Gamestores would you change if you had the opportunity to change them?

I like old games.

1. No
2. Yes
3. No
4. Yes
5. Yes
6. I don't know what Boomers is.
7. The biggest thing for me is making sure the games are displayed well so I can quickly scan them and see what they are. I hate it when places throw them in bins or lock them behind glass in such a way that I can't tell what they have. The prices should also be on every game. Oh, and do something about those dang stickers!!!!

I'll give you an answer to all of them when I'm at my pc and not on my phone but one question got me right away. When Funcoland was still around my family bought tons and tons of games from them because they always had demo systems set up and they let you try out the games first. Big deal in my opinion and it really left an impression.

Welcome To Warp Zone!

1. As a collector and overall game enthusiast, yes. As an average consumer, no. I only ever bought/renewed mine at GameStop when I knew it would save me at least face value.

2. Yes, though this isn't something that is going to be known by your average consumer. It's just something you have to automatically do to treat your customers right. Of course value scales to be worse the less a game is worth and the less likely you are to sell it. On big name/newer titles definitely.

3. Maybe. I'd have to really enjoy the game to do so. (I know from personal experience that these take a lot of man hours to do properly. space is also an issue).

4. Maybe. I can't tell you how many games I bought from GameStop (when they were still selling retro titles) without knowing a single thing about them. It would definitely help wishy washy shoppers.

5. Yes. It's part of the reason why my local GameStop was so great before they got rid of the last GM. I've stopped shopping there for many reasons, but this was a big one.

6. No. People in big costumes creep me out as an adult, and I'm not sure I'd be to keen on letting my kids near them.

7. Helpful/knowledgeable employees are a big bonus. Combining different interests is what I think makes Vintage Stock a good business (video games, trading card games, comics, movies, CD's, collectibles, anime, etc). A good atmosphere is also a good bonus. Some used game stores I've been in had disinterested employees, quiet store fronts, smelly carpets, and they were incredibly rigid. A comic store I visit has couches and laid back owners that are there every day. There's always people hanging out there because it is a destination instead of a location. Vintage Stock has movies on multiple TV's, music videos, game sounds, enjoyable employees, etc. I think the biggest draw for me is the ability to rotate stock. Some places have more inventory than they can display, and some of their good stuff still ends up in the back instead of out in the open. Even just the appearance of a moving stock makes people think what you're doing is successful, so they'll be more willing to spend their money with you. Even if I'm just sifting through games with no intention to buy, seeing new inventory makes me want to grab it.

Anyway, you know I know what's up. Send me a PM if you wanna bounce some ideas back and forth.

1. Nope, you would have a better chance getting $20-$30 out of me for a yearly fee.

2. I don't sell games often (and never to a trade in place).

3. Highly unlikely.

4. Yep.

5. Yes, it would make a huge difference, I remember the problems I had trying to reserve Katamari Damacy when the first game came out. Ugh...

7. Like other people I hate not being able to clearly see how much the game costs. I like to be able to sort through games easily and I do NOT want to dick around with a hundred stickers after I buy the game. The best mainstream store I've been to is probably Disc Replay and as far as indies go my favorite store is in Ann Arbor and called Get Your Game On (even though it's geared more toward card/tabletop folks).

My Play 'n Trade did everything you listed. I loved it there! Sadly they went out of business. At least I got to meet Yoshi.

So Yes to all and nothing that Play 'n Trade didn't do for the last.

I miss my P'nT :peachcry:
