I picked it up brand new for 10 bucks, and at first, I was having a blast. But for some reason the second I formed a party, I lost interest. Can't really explain why...so I also had some questions. How long is the main story? How do I go about multiplayer? Is there only local multiplayer? And as for the classes...what do I do to unlock the other ones? The basic swordsman thing isn't cutting it for me...so, I need to know, is this one of those games that REALLY opens up when you finish the main story or what? |

I for one really enjoyed DQ9, the story is actually quite long I invested well over 100 hours im that game and still haven't beaten it, you unlock classe like the Paladin or the Gladiator by doing sidequest that unlock them, wich most of them are at this tower thats lets you change classe that you get to durring the game but forget what its called. And most of the stuff in the game is already unlocked by the time you reach the final boss. But I think you get a new class if you beat the game and keep playing. |

Okay, so how do I go about playing online? And also, as far as levelling goes, should I stick to one thing, like swords or whips, or should I make my characters have kinda even abilities in all areas? |

To be honest i never played the online but as far as using different weapons and having a wide rang of abilities, yes it would be a good idea, having a charecter know some really powerful attack along with spells like Heal could make that charecter very useful |

I started over and made a new character and started using whips and that seems to have me pretty entertained...still trying to figure out how to play online or if there is any online play. |

There is no online play, sorry to inform you of that. The online is to get weapons/armor/items/maps you can't normally get during the game. The story itself takes 30-40 hours to beat, the side-quests/getting everything could last well over 200+ hours. |

I could never get that into the game. I didn't like the fact that the other member of the party you got were also silent. I liked Dragon Quest 8 party system. Each of the other characters in your party in dragon quest 8 had a different charm about them and their own story to boot. Dragon Quest 9 is my least favorite in the series for this reason, sure the battle system great but character aren't. That's pretty much what makes it for a Dragon Quest game for me. |

I remember playing this over the summer with thewhitepenny. We were playing the multiplayer, but we were in the same room. Don't know if that is what you are going for. I myself loved the game, but he hated it. Make sure you grind a little when you hit the metal medleys

The games story is not the best of the Dragon Quest series. If you want great Dragon Quest game with a amazing story to go along with it. Play Dragon Quest VIII for the PS2, that game's story is amazing. |
