Hey all, I dug out and played Killer Instinct Gold on the N64 tonight and couldn't believe how long its been since it was released. Would love to see a Killer Instinct 3. Does Nintendo own the character rights to the game, or did Rare retain everything and let the series die? I honestly don't know.

It would also be sweet if they even made some HD ports of KI1 or KI2 Arcade Versions to XBL. I also heard a rumor about Nether Realm possibly trying to rights to the franchaise. That would be sweet.

Here is my vid and discussions about Killer Instinct Gold and hopefully a future Killer Instinct 3 if you want to see:

Great vid man and totally agreed. Street Fighter II never did it for me, but Killer Instinct was the fighter I got into! Unfortunately I only got to play the Arcade version a couple times which is amazing, but I had to settle for the SNES version, and Gold on the N64. I like the first one more, but the music kicked ass in Gold. My best characters were Cinder (who wasn't good with Cinder!?), Sabrewulf, Spinal, and Jago :) I still have my cart of the SNES game, and have a boxed copy of Gold for the N64.

I believe Rare kept their IP's when they moved over to Microsoft, and I really wish Microsoft would let them do more with Perfect Dark and Killer Instinct instead of the stupid Kinect Sports crap.

Like NinjaPenguin, most of my experience with KI comes from the SNES port, which I absolutely loved way back when.

Wouldn't mind getting a KI cabinet like Mr. Heine for the true arcade experience, though!

I'd love a KI3. KI Gold is still one of my favorite fighters of that generation. I don't know how many times I played that in College back in the day.

Thanks a lot :) I was a huge SF2 fan, and MK as well, and I never did get to play the Arcade KI back in the day. I still pop in Killer Instinct Gold from time to time. Never tire of it or it's soundtrack :)

Oh yeah, I love me some KI!
I also wish there should be a new one or re-releasing the originals for XBLA(most likely).

My favorite characters were Jago, Fulgore and Orchid.

Fan of the SNES one, but I didn't like the N64 one for some reason. I need to get another copy of KI for SNES though. I loaned it to someone years ago and never got it back, bleh. Will be looking. Got the N64 one. It's OK, but just doesn't feel right for some reason.

Oddly enough I started with the N64 version. I found it at a flea market a couple years ago and play it every now and then. Might make another video of it soon.

I'm currently constructing a MAME cabinet to play many of my favourite games, but mostly just to play the arcade version of KI :)

My favourite character will always be Glacius.
