So, I replayed through Dragon Warrior on my NES last week, and right now I'm playing Final Fantasy on it again, but I actually am craving some more DW style games. I'm talking the overworld exploration and the "first person" style battle system where you don't see your character. Now, I'm ordering Earthbound Zero translated into English soon, and I know I can get the other Dragon Warrior games. (I ordered 2 and 3 on eBay just today!) But I'm looking for more games, preferably 8-16 bit, that are like it. I know I wanna pick up Might and Magic on the NES. Any other suggestions? |

I have no clue how good it is, but "Breath of Death VII" is an indie game that looks very close to the style of Dragon Warrior for only $2.99 on steam. Might be worth checking out if you do the computer thang. |

It's not a NES title like you requested but the Phantasy Star games are first person rpg's. If you can't get your hands on a Master System or Genesis, try out the rom. |

Ghost Lion for the NES. Also you don't "level up" by the usual way you think. You actually find your levels in treasures chests in dungeons. They were called pieces of hope or something. Anyways it is a pretty challenging game I got pretty far in it back in the day, but I eventually had enough of it I think and yeah. I'd give that one a look, I always have a soft spot for that one. I feel I have unfinished business with that one....

Since you're obviously not opposed to fan translations, check out the Hercules games. Flat out DW clones set in mythological Greece. |
