So, since PayPal are being mega-douchers and not allowing me to transfer money from my bank account, even though I have NO problems with my accounts or purchases, I decided to give them my debit card info so I could make purchases that way...but I have a few questions about paying with my debit card through paypal on eBay. First, when I use it, does the seller see my credit card number, or does all of the payment go through paypal, and the seller just gets the money? Also, do ALL sellers accept debit card payment through paypal, or do they have to specify that payment method?

When the sellers receives the money that's all they get. No personally identifiable information is given to them.
Paypal is Paypal, as long as you're using it it doesn't matter how you're using it. (As long as you're using it legally) They won't know whether the money they're getting is from your debit or credit card.

This is what i've always done. I don't think I ever even gave my debit card number to them, I just linked my checking account to paypal rather than transfer money into paypal all the time. It automatically just withdraws from my checking account if the paypal balance is zero, which it always is as it's just unnecessary effort and time to transfer the money.

I linked my checking account and have my credit card as a backup. I used to use my debit card but my bank kept dinging me for ATM fees every time I used my debit card with Paypal. It was freaking ridiculous because any idiot could see this was a glitch in their system. I actually had to argue all the way up to a District Manager in order to get my fees reversed.

They don't get any personal info. Also, I don't know if you are doing this because I was as well, but are you transfering money from your checking account into the paypal and waiting for the 5-7 days for it to process? I'm just asking because this is what I used to do and I often missed out on auctions this way. If you have no money in your paypal account and make a purchase paypal will automatically deduct it from your checking account so you never have to worry about transferring money from your checking account to your paypal account if you don't want to. Imo its much easier.

Any idea if this works with Canadian banks? I have an order with Amiami open at the moment and my payment is due the day my transfer is expected to clear. The problem is my transfers always take an extra couple days to complete.
I read about the instant transfer, but that requires a credit card incase you don't have the money in your bank account when they go to take it. I assume that's also needed for this?

You don't need a credit card for what KBK is talking about. He does the same thing I do, just let the paypal balance stay 0 and they withdraw automatically from a checking account. They didn't even ask for any debit cards linked to the account from what I remember, just the checking account number.

This sounds very useful, thank you for letting me know about this.

For Paypal what I did was put my debit card on there and just use that. It shows 0.00 dollars on my paypal.

How Does PayPal Protect My Financial Information?
When you sign up for PayPal, we ask you to link your bank account, debit card, or credit card so that your payments can be funded. This information is never shared with retailers. In fact, it's securely protected by data encryption technology, reducing the risk of online fraud and identity theft.
