I would say the .Hack series is a more complex RPG series, you need some serious dedication for that. A lot of JRPGs, including the Tales of and Record of Agarest War Games are quite advance, same goes for Xenogears/Saga/Blade games.

Resonance of Fate on 360/PS3. I love the style of that game but it's so damn difficult.

Persona games are pretty good for this sort of stuff. Radiant Historia also has a nifty battle system.

What are you looking for, more complex battle system or a more complex plot and more in-depth RPG aspect? Does it have to be current generation, or can it be from 1980s or 1990s? Ultima IV is a great and influental RPG that every RPG enthusiast should play, it is quite unique as the story tackles moral issues rather than being just a generic "kill the bad guys"-grindfest. It's a very hard game to play for a young/modern day gamer though, but worth the effort if you want to get into RPGs
Edit: You can get the game for free from here http://www.gog.com/gamecard/ultima_4 A very nice site for buying oldschool RPGs by the way, kinda like Steam.

i already play alot of RPGs, i prefer older games from ps2 and older, i dont really play my 360 much at all. iv been reading about Ultima i would love to get a hold of one of the games. i was gona try planescape torment once i get paid. but i mean like in persona there is the fusing mechanic and in a couple xbox games i forget what but there is alchemy or creating armours from materials and stuff these are the games i like.

p.s thanks for the link. i use steam at the minute and iv been hearing more and more about GOG thats were im gona get planescape torment.

ive also been playing eye of the beholder which is REALLY HARD!
