Final Fantasy 7, 8, and 9 really shine the most in my opinion. As far as final fantasy goes a lot will depend on how much graphics mean to you. I really haven't played a bad final fantasy yet, except for 14, which was online and broken at release. FF1 will give you one feel, 2-6 will give you another feel, 7-9 will give you another feel, 10 yet another, 12 yet another, and 13 yet another. A lot of people will recommend 6 and a lot will recommend X (10). You can't really go wrong. Just pick up any numbered FF game and try it on for size (avoid 11 and 14, they are MMO's, not standalone games) Megaman X is an amazing game, and you should definitely play it if you get the chance. You should try an older (non X) Megaman also to see if you like them. Someone else will have to chime in on which one of those is the best, but I've heard a lot of people talk well of Megaman 2. |

I wouldn't recommend starting with FFX. X is the game that made the series a hell of a lot more linear. I'd say start with an open world final fantasy game so that when you do play them you don't feel to overwhelmed with where to go. I'd say start with VI or VII |

I would suggest starting with FF7. Its not all that complex and its really fun grinding the materia AP. Its probably my fav world map in a ff game too. I gonna be obvious and choose megaman 2. It was my first megaman game and it blew me away. |

FF7 is my all time favorite game. No game will ever take it's place. Many have come close, but nothing tops that story IMO. |

I have only played a few of the Final Fantasy games but i never finished any. I plan on starting with Final Fantasy VII or some of the GBA remakes. Mega Man on the other hand, i'm a huge fan of and here is how i think you should approach the series. Start with the Classic Mega Man series, if you have Nes i would go start with Mega Man 3 (3 is my personal favorite and the first one i ever played.) Then check out Mega Man 2, Mega Man 9 & Mega Man 10. (Of course you can play all if you like, they are all good games...but those i think are the best ones.) After a few Mega Man games, i would go to the X series and play those in order from Mega Man X1-X6 (I still have to play X7 & X8 but i heard they aren't that great.) THEN go onto the Mega Man Zero Games on the GBA - if you have a DS they have all 4 Zero games on one DS Cart. That's how i would approach the series. Start with Classic - X - Zero - ZX. Hope you like them!

Honestly, I'd start with Final Fantasy IV or VI if I were you. It gives you a good appreciation for the old-fashioned feel of earlier entries while also providing engaging plots and characters. As far as Mega Man is concerned, I'd play 2 and 3 out of the original series, especially, and if you want more of that classic feel, then go through 9 and 10. As for Mega Man X, 1-5 are all excellent games, 6 and 8 being very good, too. |
