I don't know if this ties in with the movies very well, but the chronicles of riddick escape from butcher bay was a great game for the original xbox/pc. I bought the remake on the ps3 a little bit ago. It's gameplay is like a cross of half-life and metal gear solid.
It's a must buy!

Yeah, plenty! The classic Star Wars games, the Disney titles of the late '80s and early '90s, Warlock (Genesis one--SNES one wasn't as good), Enter the Matrix, and some of the ones already mentioned like Riddick.

Aladdin for the SNES is good, and the Sega Genesis/Mega Drive game is rather difficult, but fun.

Definitely agree with Chronicles of Riddick: Escape from Butcher Bay, and Dark Athena. That's a case where the game was better than the movie. lol.

GoldenEye 007
LOTR: The Two Towers (never played Return of the King, but I heard that's excellent)
Peter Jackson's King Kong
The Warriors
X-Men Origins Wolverine
The Lion King; I'm not sure if it's still good but I remember loving it when I was young!

007: Nightfire (PS2,Xbox?,Gamecube??) can be fun to play with friends. You can set bots to have a ton of health or walk really slow or be hyper unintelligent so they walk into walls. It's fun to mess around with

Spider-Man 2, I fuckin' loved that game, it completely nailed the feeling of swinging through New York.

Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves on the NES, playing it now I can see many, many flaws but despite that, I still love it because it holds a lot of nostalgic value for me as, I played it for hours on end when I was a kid

I am very partial to the Super Star Wars games on the SNES. They were highly enjoyable, very playable and remarkably faithful to the movies. Whenever someone picks up a SNES and they ask what games I would recommend, those are always at the top of the list.

From the current generation, I can say that I highly enjoyed X-Men Origins: Wolverine. The game is your typical hack n' slash, but I really liked it and enjoyed the 7+ hours I put into it. The other one that I liked was The Bourne Conspiracy, which a lot of people seems to hate but I rather enjoyed. None of these are perfect games, mind you, but I was able to look past the flaws and enjoy them for what they were.

Video games based on movies are often rushed to meet street date while the movie namesake is still in theaters and relevant, so the quality can sometimes suffer dramatically. As such, the lack of confidence in movie tie-ins is not surprising, though I will say that there are certainly diamonds in the rough.

The Warriors on PS2 and XBOX (and PSP I guess) - An incredibly fun brawler, built upon the movie in so many ways, gave you the back story behind the Warriors, and built upon the characters. Whenever someone slates movie-tie ins, I throw The Warriors in the face. BAM.

Both The Lord of the Rings action games (Two Towers and Return of the King) were awesome, especially RotK with its Co-op mode. I did have some fun with The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe game, but it was overall quite mediocre. Fun, but not really a great game, nor one that I'd really recommend. Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix is one of the better movie games I've played as well, if only for the fact that you could traverse all of Hogwarts with virtually no loading times. I always wanted to try out Half-Blood Prince, since I heard that the map was practically the same, though with more detail in the amount of classrooms and things. The Super Star Wars SNES games are awesome, too. I also recently finished 007: Quantum of Solace, which got terribly mediocre reviews, but I actually found the whole game to be quite pleasant. It didn't revolutionize anything, and was a pretty run-of-the-mill shooter (Activision made it, so the controls are naturally CoD-esque), but I had a great amount of fun with it.

The Matrix for PS2, Despite all its flaws I had fun in that game just because it was The Matrix.
