I have the black Solos. My initial impression: They look nice and sound decent. However, I think there are FAR better headphones out there that are a lot cheaper, like Fanny Wang and Audio Technica. Beats By Dre is a product of media hype and celebrity endorsement, most people buy them for their looks. In general, I hate Beats mainly because of how overhyped they are. They sound decent but not as good as everyone else make it seem.

Glad you enjoy it though. :)

I have the solo reds also, they are pretty good. But I think the quality of the product sucks Ive had them for a year and they are practically falling apart.

I have the Studios. They do look cool but I agree, they are vastly overhyped for the branding. I've used Bose Quietcomfort 15s and the sound quality is much superior on the Bose, even though they are similar in price. I only paid $135 (they aren't fake) for my Studios, I think they are worth that but not the $300 new price tag on them.

I looked in to this when I was in my senior year of college. Of course Dre's Beats were popping up everywhere and had become the "cool" thing to wear around campus. I had always wanted to drop good money on a pair of headphones since I'm such a music head, however, I never had that kind of money to put down on a pair. Long story short, I scrounged up the money to get a nice pair and then started to do the research. Good god am I happy that I put the time in to researching what I should buy rather than running to a store and picking up some Beats.

I ended up getting a brand new pair of Audio Technica ATH-M50s's for half the price and man these things are far superior to any of the pairs of Beats most of my friends had in college. With Beats your just buying a brand... go against the norm and pick up a pair of headphones that will cost half as much and will get you near twice the quality.

I know many local business owners and one owner saved me a cheap pair when he got them in. I've seen bootlegs fall apart very quickly (I've even just held them and pulled lightly on some pieces for it to come apart) like someone above me mentioned but these Studios have been used for about 2 years and still look the same as when I got them. Legit Beats will have a serial number sticker above the left earcup, regardless of whether they are Studios, solos, or pros. I've seen many people complain about the Beats quality, only to have them see that they own fake ones :P I've tried the fake ones and they really lack the power of the real ones. Fake ones are still decent headphones, but I wouldn't pay more than $50-60 for them.

guys, let me suggest you check out some music gear shops... they likely will have a display with monitor headphones that you could try out... of course maybe they wont be mega bass boosting headphones but it may be worth checking out. Check out some beyer audios or something.. you might find something that suits you that is not only higher end than the beats by dre, and more natural sounding.... but better built.

I have a pair of black Solos that I got on Black Friday for $120. Overall, they're nice. At first the sound quality was great, after a while it deteriorates like any other pair of headphones. For the deal I got, I was satisfied, and so far they've lasted quite well, knock on wood, when it comes to durability. I'm a huge audiophile, and these are up there with the best headphones I've had.
