I really enjoyed Ubisoft's conference except for the annoying hosts. Sony also had a good showing although I wish they showed more stuff for the Vita. As for Microsoft, they don't seem to care about games, instead they seem to care about more media features, which is completely stupid. Overall it has been a lackluster E3 even though Sony and Ubisoft had good showings. P.S. No matter what games Nintendo shows, Watch Dogs is definitely the best game of E3 |

You're seriously going to criticize Microsoft after Sonys drawn out conference? They spoke for nearly twenty minutes about media features on Vita and PS3 we'd already heard about, followed by the broken showing of Wonderbook. Kinda hypocritical don't ya think? MS and Sony were equally bad, they had some great games to show, but not enough of them. Ubisoft and EA had great conferences. Edited by lol_pc, Jun 5 2012, 09:50 AM.

Yes I am going to criticize Microsoft. They had way to many pointless features and took up way too much time. The pointless features will be useless. Why would I want to watch ESPN on my Xbox when I could just watch it on TV? Atleast Sony actually had a useful feature in Remote Play. I stand by the fact that Microsoft failed with there conference while Sony had a good showing. I do agree with you that Ubisoft and EA had great showings |

We can argue all we want gentlemen... the fact of the matter is that this years E3 has been one of the most boring in years. Also.... the wand in wonderbook looks like a giant wooden dildo. Just my opinion ;D |

God, this gets me so angry towards Nintendo fanboys. Nintendo used to be utterly great, but they started releasing utter shite, and people kept on buying it up because it was NINTENDO. E3 is a testament to this. NINTENDOLAND? REALLY!? Looking at twitter, the fanboys were praising this turd as if it was the second coming of christ. God dammit. |

it had a few pluses but looking at it as a whole I was a tad unimpressed. However, there is still a 3ds conference tomorrow night so Nintendo could still save some face |

Can I just ask what people were expecting from E3 to walk away so disappointed? I'm not being a prick, it's a genuine question. Especially regarding Nintendo. Now I didn't think Nintendo was stellar by any means but compared to, say, Microsoft, I thought they did just fine. But the amount of venom I've seen directed at Nintendo for their conference is a little confusing to me and I just want to know what you were expecting or would like to have seen instead? |

A deeper look into the launch titles, they expect us to want to buy an entirely new console on launch, then they gotta convince me that I need one, they didn't, simple as that. I loved Pikmin 3, it looked really, really awesome. But I expected a lot more of an emphasis on their launch lineup of both first and third party titles. They know what kind of gamers are watching their show live, then why waste time showing a game like Just Dance 4 or Sing, they know that's not what the core audience wants. And that goes for MS and Sony as well. Though I may be critical of the press conferences, i've been quite impressed with many of the games so far; Assassin's Creed 3, The Last of Us, Rayman Legends, Watch_Dog, Pikmin 3, Splinter Cell: Blacklist, God of War: Ascension, SimCity, Halo 4, NFS: Most Wanted and Zombi U. The problem is that they just didn't show enough of them, in all of the shows the games took up 1/5th of their shows (With the exception of Ubisoft and EA). I don't buy a console to watch Netflix, YouTube or ESPN, I buy it to play games, and you'd think that a video game oriented expo, would have a little more focus on the gaming aspect. |

Nintendo always shows more in the days right after E3, mainly on e3.nintendo.com. Wii U has some nice looking stuff, but I'm more excited lego city and scribblenauts will be coming to the 3ds and not just the Wii U. Really looking forward to the 3ds showing tomorrow, and am happy to have a few more great looking first party 3ds games coming this year. |

I'm gonna join the consensus. I thought Nintendo's conference was a bit disappointing by most standards. However, Nintendo showed about as much games as EA and Ubisoft did. Ubisoft's conference was filled with Aisha Tyler and some douchebag failing to be funny. Microsoft I enjoyed simply because, as a hockey fan, I like hearing that NHL Gamecenter is coming to xBox Live and I could take advantage of that. In regards to the games, EA, Ubisoft, and Nintendo had great games. Crysis, Dead Space, Far Cry, Watch_Dogs, Pikmin 3, both New Super Mario Bros games, Paper Mario, Lego City. E3 had something for everyone. Note that I didn't watch Sony's. *puts hate shield up* Now, in my opinion, Nintendo won, followed by EA, then Microsoft, then Ubisoft (again I didn't watch Sony so I can't judge) and here's why. Ninty: Because they showed me things that I really wanted. Overall, they didn't necessarily show a lot of games to make other people want to buy a Wii U, but I would buy it for Pikmin. Simple as that. Call me a Nintendo fanboy, call me what you want. EA: Again, they showed games that I wanted to buy, and they didn't waste time. Microsoft: They had a lot of quality games. Not jumping on the hate-Halo/COD-because-everyone-does bandwagon. Both games looked great, and NHL Gamecenter appeals to me. Call me a casual gamer, call me what you want. Ubisoft: I loved the games. But I'm rating the conference and I think that's where a lot of people get their opinions skewed. A big portion of the conference is the games, but the presentation also matters. Video game trailers shouldn't be live action, two of them were. And don't even get me started on the "comedy" that they had. Absolutely horrifying. Don't get me wrong, Watch_Dogs is a must have, but the conference itself was lackluster. Call me what you want, but that's just my thoughts. |

Pikmin 3 looked really good & I'm glad to see the Wii U will support 2 tablets but I was hoping to be really surprised by something and it didn't happen... at least not yet. All in all I thought they had a decent showing & I don't really get all the hate they are getting. I guess E3 used to have more impact when you used to only hear about stuff via EGM etc., now we already know most of the stuff before they show it.

I hear you on all that, thanks for the response ![]() Now that the console cycles are winding down, I guess it's all a bit of a mish-mash. Things feel kind of all over the place. And like the person above me said, a lot of stuff isn't even shown at E3 anymore. Tons of stuff got leaked before, and we're going to get a lot more stuff announced over the coming year too. For me, E3 isn't the powerhouse it used to be and hasn't been for some time, so maybe I'm not feeling the disappointment others are because my expectations were very low going in. As far as all the Just Dance / Sing stuff goes, I'm really in two minds about it. On the one hand it doesn't interest me in the slightest, and as one of those core gamers you mentioned, every time one of these games came up, the company announcing it lost me. That said, these things make an incredible amount of money. Whether we like it or not, these things are here to stay. And in a way, at the very least, I appreciate how these games make gaming a lot more acceptable and approachable. I really feel like there is something for everyone these days and that's a positive thing. But yeah, the downside is we get less time spent on the things core gamers would really like to see. But whatever sells is going to get a lot of time in the spotlight. |

Not trying to troll or be a prick I'm just wondering why some of you think Halo 4 looks good. I think it looks gameplay wise like Reach which turned me off instantly, because I thought that game played awful and barely anything like Halo. |

I personally enjoyed the gameplay during the conference, mainly because the scenery reminded me a lot of Metroid Prime. It just looks interesting to me. Plus, the only Halo game I've played is Reach, so I'm relatively new to the series. I wrote it off as just another sci-fi shooter but I gave Reach a rental and enjoyed it. |

Thats respectable. I'm probably just mad because the game isn't what i want it to be, because I was looking forward to it possibly going back to being a game with the main focus as pvp multiplayer not firefight or that spartan ops bullshit. |

OK So I am back with part 2 which is the Sony Press Conference. The First game to be shown of at the Sony press conference is Beyond the next new release from Heavy Rain developer Quantic Dream. It looks interesting and I did like heavy rain so I will defiantly give this a shot. After that they showed Playstation All Stars Battle Royale. Looks really good I am defiantly going to pick this up. And the two new characters reveled at the press conference is Nathan Drake which was a given that he is going to be in the game. And Big Daddy from BioShock and since Bio Shock is a multi platform series it actually makes me wonder if Sony’s going to Add More third party characters in the game and who will they be. I’m looking forward to hearing more reviles about first and third party characters. Next we move on to Cross Control. All I have to say is that if the game is both on vita and PS3 then it is a good idea that a PS3 player can play against a PS Vita Controller. Then we hear about Playstation Plus users getting full retail games for free (take notes Microsoft) and to me that sounds like a really great deal who would want to pass up full games if offered for free. Then we get to the PS Vita with the announcements of Call of Duty Black Ops Declassified and Assassins Creed 3 Liberation. While I am not a fan of both franchises Sony really needs to find a way to sell the Vita and if that means using the top selling franchises to do it then so be it. But for me I am still not convinced on picking up a Vita. Then we get Assassins Creed 3. While I haven’t really gotten into the franchise ( I am planning on giving the first 2 games a try) I do say that setting it during the American revolution is pretty brilliant because I honestly can’t think of any other game that took place during the American revolution. (correct me if I’m wrong) Then Far Cry 3 is announced I don’t know much about the Far Cry series but to me this game looks like another first person shooter. Then we move on to the Playstation Move which seemed like Sony was abandoning but it seems like they are not doing that yet with the announcement of Wonder Book Book of Spells. I admit I was bored when they showed this off because it was a little dragged out but from the looks of it it didn’t look to bad and it looks like it will be great for kids. Then we have god of war Ascension. I played the first god of war and I was turned off by the excessive button tapping in the game so because of that I didn’t get into god of war. So I don’t have an opinion on Ascension. Then Finally the show closes off with The Last of Us. While this wasn’t necessarily a surprise it does look really good and it looks like its going to be a survival horror game without the horror in it and it’s made by naughty dog which I can defiantly see because when they first showed footage of the gameplay I thought it was an uncharted game at first then a few seconds later I realize it is not uncharted but a survivor horror game but then I realize that the enemies are not zombies so its not a horror game well the point is the trailer kept me guessing which I like. I will defiantly look into this. In Conclusion while a little underwhelming because there weren’t that much surprises Sony did what Microsoft didn’t do which was putting games over features. Yea sure they talked about there services such as youtube and crackle and there was playstation mobile but at least they didn’t spend a half hour on it and have pointless pop acts on stage. (usher and flo rida I am looking at you) So overall the conference was pretty good I hope there Is truly meaning to the words “The Best is Yet to Come.” So I am looking forward to that. I will post parts 3 and 4 tomorrow which is the Nintendo Pre E3 press conference and the Wii U press conference. Then i will post my thoughts on the 3DS games with part 5 on Thursday then sometime at the end of the week i will include additional games not announced at the conference, what i feel is the best game of E3 and who i thinks has "won E3" so i bid you all a goodnight. |

Totaly get where you are coming from here. Each company catered to the casual at some point in each conference, at which point my vision and hearing went kinda fuzzy :P. But thats such a HUGE glut of income for them, it's probably essential that they did it. Doing it well..... thats another matter. Microsoft basically came out and said "we own the market" so they probably felt they could just show whatever they damn well pleased. But there was only one first party game in that conference that I actually found interesting (Halo, just because I am huge in the lore and I am curious where they are taking the story). I'm not a Gears fan myself, but I know some people love it (anyone excited?). Smart Glass? I'm actualy struggling to understand who that is being marketed to. Anyone who wants to do all that stuff probably already has a media centre, pc, or that ridiculously expensive apple thing right? And doesn't it look VERY similar to another console this year? I mean, it's fine that the option is there, but for it to take up so much time in a gaming conference was a bit of a dumb move. ANDWHYTHEHELLDIDTHEYPOSTGAMEOFTHRONESSPOILERS? EA was a pretty bad conference too imo. Dead Space (to me) looked like Gears Of War. *SPORTSGAMESWHOCARES* Infact, I do care. Was it necessary for that UFC guy to be such an ass towards THQ, in a professional press conference? Keep it classy brah. Battle Of Dutyfield Elite is a bit of a dick move too imo, considering they said they would never do something like that a few years back. I'm actualy quite glad that game has so many issues on my pc and I lost interest in it now, or I would be quite annoyed. TOR content.... wasn't interesting, I got bored of that rapidly too. MoH looked exactly like BF3 to me, anyone else agree? I dont actually remember the rest....? OH NFS looked fun. Ubisoft was.... pretty great. Yeah they, like everyone else, appealed to the casual, but that seems to be a theme, and since it's such a big source of income now, I can't blame them personaly (even though it was boring as hell). Anyways.... teh games. Farcry 3 is looking better and better to me story wise, I LOVE insanity as a story mechanic, and it looks like they are running with it pretty well. AC3 obviously looks great. IMO Ezio outstayed his welcome, so it's very nice that we are getting a new assasin. The enviroment and setting will hopefuly make it the most interesting story yet. Nice Wii U support is also great to see, but I'll talk about that later. Watch_Dogs was of course, absolutely stunning. One of the finest games of the show, what else can I say? Sony was actually quite impressive too imo. The AR book was actually an interesting idea, it should be a nice little product for families. But it took up FAR too much time. It didn't exactly help that the people playing it had no idea what the hell they were doing xD. And down to the exclusives. The Last Of Us: Stunning. Beyond: Beyond Stunning (all of my <3 to Ellen Page, seriously). Battle Royale looks like a very fun SSB style game, imho you can never have enough SSB GoW, not a fan myself, but again, will probably appeal to fans. And thank god there is actually something coming out for vita in the AC game.Ninty's Wii U show. Now i've seen people who are bashing this one to all hell, and people praising it as if it was jesus, not the Regginator talking. I sit somewhere inbetween. I think that a lot of people built it up far too much for themselves. For some reason a lot of people went in expecting them to show all of these: Zelda, Starfox, Metroid, F-Zero, Animal Crossing etc... But, just be realistic people. They have not even set a release date or a price, and they have shown two HUGE franchises. Pikmin 3 and New Super Mario Brothers 2. Would I have liked a teaser of a new Zelda, or Metroid? Yup, which is where it fell a little flat for me. BUT we know this stuff is planned people, and they are going to want to spread out the major franchises. Anyway, the tech looks amazing, the fact that there is already good third party support (Ubi impressed me here), the awesome online structure, the whole Wii Home minigames thing and the two huge first party titles that are already shown will be more than enough to get me to pick that thing up day one. And with the inclusion of a couple of casual games, and the backwards compatability, hopefully a lot more people will too. More consoles sold means more dev support ![]() Anyway it's nearly 5am now so I'm sleeping xD |

So far this E3 once again has not wowed me. But there are some great titles on offer. In terms of the conferences ..... well my desire to watch them is falling year by year and soon i'll rather just read the articles and watch the trailers. But if I have to pick which conference i liked the most it would have to be Sony , having Beyond, Assassins Creed 3 and The Last of Us was enough to put them above the rest. I would have to agree with most people here and say the Nintendo conference was really disappointing ... and this comes from someone who usually loves their conferences. I mean Nintendo Land are you serious? ..... I was waiting for the grand finale to the bore fest and that's how they ended it .... i'm sorry but that was the worst part of the conference ...... or E3 in general. I mean the concept is interesting but what they showed was way below average to say the least. No thought went into the presentation of the game what so ever. Now the Lego City game kinda interests me. It plays on my nostalgia since I owned some of the Lego city stuff as a kid. But the real charm of the game comes from the fact that it looks like its going to take the piss outta every Super Cop movie/tv show ever made. On a more positive note I have been pleased with Konami at e3. The Pre E3 presentation was excellent. The games they have offered were the most appealing (kinda biased since they are my favorite developer). The biggest surprise came today in the form of: Agni's Philosophy a Final Fantasy Real Time Tech Demo. I'm not big on Final Fantasy now days but this trailer was gorgeous. If u haven't seen it check it out here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=UVX0OUO9ptU Anyway E3 has not ended yet so I'm waiting til the dust settles and have the chance to read more articles and watch trailers from 3rd party developers. My attention is squared on Xseed, Altus, Konami and Sega. |
