Today, I tried Burger King's new bacon sundae. It is exactly what it sounds like. Vanilla sundae with caramel and REAL bacon as toppings. I'm not talking about little pieces of bacon, but around 2 strips of bacon! One crushed and one strip standing vertically. I know what it sounds like, but I can tell you that Burger King pulled this risky move pretty wel. Has anyone in here tried it? If you haven't, go and buy one! It will be worth it.

It's a lot less risky than it seems. Chocolate and bacon or chocolate and beef jerky have been getting thrown together for at least a few years now, and they already had the sundae items as well as the bacon, so if it didn't sell at all, they didn't really have to worry about it. It makes for an outlandish ad campaign so even if no one buys it, it'll probably boost their sales. They snuck it in. A bold but safe and very interesting business move. I like it. Now I wanna try one as well. |

I was listening to my local rock radio station on the hour drive home from work yesterday, and the two dj's tried one on air. They both seemed to like it. I think I wll be passing, though, seeing as I'm not a big meat eater to begin with, and adding bacon to a usually non-meat item just doesn't appeal to me. (However, I do agree with Eskill in the fact that it was a great promotional move.) |

I'd rather have the bacon separate from the ice cream, but I guess that's a good way to get a few strips of bacon with your dessert. |

I personally haven't tried this bacon strip ice scream, but going to fast food in general is bad, but I still go.. lol Also, I've tried the Dorito Taco twice, once meat and another time bean, it personally wasn't for me. I love the Patato taco/burrito though! |

I've tried them too. I guess they aren't too bad, but it didn't blow my mind like the BK sundae did. I mean, yes it sounds gross and it probably is and I'm positive its bad for you, but all fast foods are. What blew my mind about the product is the fact that it exist in Burger King and the fact that it didn't taste bad. I don't think its any worse than dipping french fries to vanilla sundae. This is a surprise because I never go to Burger King and have always thought their product is inferior to most fast food chain. I've always been a Wendy's person. Now I think BK has decent product but lack the marketing skills McDonald's possess. |

It seems that adding bacon to foods that bacon typically doesn't go with is becoming a pastime. A place near work sells bacon cupcakes, bacon doughnuts, bacon cookies, etc. I personally love bacon and have tried some of these bizarre combinations, and some of them work quite well. I am tempted to try this sundae, though I'm unsure if it's available here in Canada. As for the heart attack part, there are plenty of worse foods than bacon. You'll live. Funny, but this is not the most bizarre stunt that Burger King has ever pulled. They once introduced a body spray called "Flame", which makes you smell like hamburgers. I'm not even kidding about that |

I had a dark chocolate and bacon gormet candy bar once and the sweet and salty combo is pretty awesome. I think Ben and Jerrys did a sweet salty ice cream based on Jimmy Fallon with chocolate covered crushed potato chip balls. Very odd... I love to try new things (just had some veggie chicken nuggets tonight and they weren't that bad) so I'll be in line for this shit. Edited by SCScanlan, Jun 16 2012, 11:07 PM.
