Microsoft announced the Microsoft Surface tablet today, and I think it looks amazing. I'm going to sell my kindle fire and my ASUS 1018p for it. I'm interested in the 32gb RT version. Liquid metal and a touch keyboard is a great idea. BTW, anybody wants to buy a ASUS 1018p for 250? it's metal, and i upgraded the ram to 2gb.

If it plays Xbox Live games like Windows Phone 7, I'll get one.

I can appreciate that Microsoft is taking the tablet market seriously... but hardware alone doesn't mean jack. Look at the Zune, which was late to the party and arguably a well built MP3 player. On tablets it's all about the App store and what can the device actually do for you. Also, Apple is now on version 3 of their iPad and presumably working on iPad 4 and beyond. Just not sure if Microsoft can make a dent or not.... We'll see.

I think it's a really cool product, can't wait to see how Windows 8 connects all the devices.

I refuse to buy Apple products, until they can justify their pricing. And don't give me the quality BS, I can buy an Acer, ASUS, HP, Samsung, Dell or Toshiba product for less than half of what an equivalent Apple product costs, with just as good software, more freedom and equal build quality.

lol yup, so much this. I still use a first gen ipod touch, because other than compatability with newer iOS games I see no benefit that justifies the insane pricetag the new models carry.

Anyway, the Microsoft tablet :P I don't care at all :') And I seriously doubt that I will ever be upgrading to Windows 8 (unless they force me to because of DirectX compatability, which would be the dickiest of dick moves). I don't want windows to look like a god damn tablet/xbox live (yes I know that you have the "option" to have a more familiar layout, but still....). I don't want another operating system that will once again most likely wipe compatability with a ton of my older programs. I don't want to have a tablet hooked up to my xbox hooked up to my phone hooked up to my pc, it's just ridiculous.

*Sigh*, I miss Windows 98 and XP. Anyway....

Well, I really don't think it's going to make any sort of an impact. I mean, the iPad pretty much controls the tablet market. I think companies are really stupid for trying to go against it.

Wasn't that also what people thought about the iPhone? Samsung seems to have made a pretty big dent in that market.

It looks good, but I still don't really have a need for a tablet at the moment.
