Hey everyone, what was the one game that got you through a tough time in life? My personal game was the legend of zelda wind waker, got me through a time when my parents were spiting up when I was a kid. It helped me shut everything else out. |

Last year I had the hardest course I had ever taken for school. I was a sophomore in college, and I needed to do well to be able to transfer into the business division of my school and the pressure was killing me. I picked up Deus Ex: Human Revolution after my midterm (on a Friday). My roommate went home for the weekend, so it was just me and the game. I turned the lights off, got comfy, and played that game the entire weekend. The game made me forget about all my worries and invested me into its own world. I hadn't had that happen to me in years. Really meant a lot. -- I did really well in that course, for anyone wondering

Final Fantasy 2 (4j) on the SNES made me feel better when I played it back in the day, as did Final Fantasy 3 (6j), the original Mega Man series always put me in a good mood, and between jobs Dragon Quest 8, Rogue Galaxy, and most of the Wild Arms games were all very therapeutic. Had so much fun playing through those that it was easy to escape for a while. There are other games that've put me in a good mood to helped to forget crap going on, but it's not as easy to do nowadays. Gaming, along with studying, reading, working myself to exhaustion at my job, and trying to fit exercise in (slacking here), playing with dogs and spending time with family. Finding a balance is important. Other than just play games, it might help you to talk to people about what's bothering you, or just get out some and try to relax. Find some combination of things you like, like gaming, going out, doing stuff, doesn't have to be fancy or a big deal or anything. Best of luck to you. |

Persona 3. That game got me so emotionally invested that it became quite a good way to block out irl when I was playing it. And it still does, I went back to it last year when I had.... a pretty bad few months. I love that game

Dragon Quest VIII, and Fallout 3. Those games got me through some of the hardest, darkest times I have ever experienced. |

Kingdom Hearts 1 (PS2). As my dad was going through a rough second marriage, I was going back and forth between my mom's and dad's house, and my sister and I were just confused and felt bad about the situation, it was absolutely incredible to be able to just take my PS2 with me to each house and play this wonderful game. My sister and I would just hide in the basement and I would play the game, while my sister would offer tips and help with where I may need to go next. Great memories playing the game. |

for me it would be Super Smash Bros Melee when i lived with my mom and her new boyfriend at the time it was really rough, so when i was depressed and locked myself up in my room my friends would come scoop me up and we would go to their houses and have sleep overs and play SSBM into sunrise : ) |

Unreal Tournament 3- while blasting some awesome music it can make me feel much better because of its intense and over the top action and nearly constant killing. Doom- So many good memories with this game... it can get me through anything |

The Sims 2 and a lot of the free adventure games at Big Blue Cup. I was having money problems, i was with a horrible partner and ended up drinking a lot too. The Ben Jordan series and the 5 Days a Stranger/7 Days a Skeptic series amongst the other point n click adventures really got me through the dark times. Adventure games are really good for keeping your mind busy and inducing some form of escapism. Its been a while since i downloaded anything from there, i should really go back and see if there are any new gems. Seems like they Improved the site since my last visit too, i'd highly recommend trying some of the games out if you like lucasarts/sierra adventures. |

Went through a big lump of depression last year because of University. Bionic Commando (2009), Vanquish and Gran Turismo 5 helped me through that time. As well as a few sessions of Bad Company 2 at Mr Heine's server, whom helped me get my creative spark back

Castlevania: Lords of Shadow, I was going through a rough period mentally because I had just been turned down to a couple of jobs in the video game industry. But that game really gave me a boost, the story, the world and the characters were so well crafted in that game, I loved it! It might not have been a true Castlevania game, but even without that title the game still would've been an outstanding experience. |
