On the first of our short and sweet "hiatus special" episodes, Ben and Andy delve into stories about their formative years. Find out about their experiences as kids, from Andy's nefarious friends to what started Ben's lifelong love of boobies. As you can imagine, we got into plenty of shenanigans. If you were wondering how the Rad Rascals came into being, we take you right back to our roots! Disclaimer: These stories are for educational purposes only, and should not be recreated or enjoyed by anyone, ever. The stuff we did was embarrassing and certainly not big, nor clever. Be smart guys, and remember: Don't be a cock. Here's the link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rcA65IusEZQ&feature=g-u-u The iTunes and MP3 links are in the video description box. Note that the iTunes upload is on a scheduled timer, so it might take a little longer to appear. Enjoy

I'm really looking forward to listening to this! I'm starting now! The first thing that I noticed is that what qualifies as a "short and sweet" episode for the Rad Rascals is a normal-length episode for most podcasts. That's Rad Rascals for you!

Haha, "short and sweet" is, by our standards, anything less than two hours. We've clearly raised the bar for podcast length

Hey fellas, I just finished the episode and loved it! It's funny how awesome an episode can turn out simply by recalling old stories from your childhoods, even if they aren't stories you can be the most proud of. It's odd, though, because I'm in my teenage years and I wouldn't even consider doing any of those things you guys did in your years. Of course it's a different time, but I also see a lot of people in my school doing idiotic things and I just don't understand the appeal. Haha sometimes it's like they are having a dick contest to see who can be the biggest dick while having the smallest. I don't understand why some kids are impressed by people that do drugs, vandalize, and other stupid things. We've gotten ourselves into a bad spot in society where being unique is stupid and being stupid is cool. I don't know how we got to this point, but I wonder if it will ever get better because really, teenagers have enough to deal with like like hormones, grades, etc. and they shouldn't need to worry about fitting in with the crowd on top of that. I just don't understand humans sometimes. Of course I'm not talking about you guys with all of this, that's just my rant for the day. I'm talking about the 75% who don't learn from their mistakes and grow up to be total asses, although you guys have definitely bounced back from all of the bad influences or events that you mentioned in this episode. Anyways, this was an awesome episode like I mentioned before. Keep it up! Edited by pokemonzrpg, Aug 5 2012, 03:02 PM.

Oh my god y'all where evil fuckers as kids. I could not stop laughing the whole time and i was getting weird looks by people at work. By the way it should be illegal for you guys to have kids because if they are just as bad as you, the world just might end. |

I know! However, we are older and (somewhat) wiser now, so our kids are unlikely to repeat the same mistakes. For humanity's sake, I hope I'm right about that

This is probably my favorite episode, even if it's non-gaming related. I can kind of relate to you guys' youth, but mines made me seem like a manipulative sociopath than it does a rascal. Also, it's interesting because this episode came out at the right time. Yesterday, I got to see and hang out with someone I hadn't seen in since high school (about 8 years ago). The one memory that stood out to me was during PE class, which me, him and another guy named Cody would hang out. There was this one guy in our class we absolutely hated, he didn't dress emo per se, but he had a self-deprecating attitude which attracted the opposite sex at the time. One day, I noticed he forgot his lock, so I suggested we'd go to the locker room during track and throw his backpack in the toilet. I don't know if I was for the initiative, Cody (a hyperactive dude at the time) was all for the idea and stormed towards the locker room. We followed. Once we got there, he simply shoved the backpack in the toilet, however I then suggested we take out his books, utensils, and notebooks and shove those in the other individual toilets. Needless to say, we went overboard. After class, the guy found his backpack and was severely pissed, and we went on to mock him for weeks. Then there was another more recent and I guess less humorous memory where I got into the habit of shoplifting. I think was a little after I graduated from high school (around the time I was 18 to 19), where had the mentality that big capitalistic corporations were bad because, despite all the positive effects, gave little to no chance for mom and pop joints from thriving. But this is excess information and doesn't excuse me by any means. The thing was, I'd never shoplift alone, I'd also persuade someone else to shoplift with me. With one friend, I'd shoplift Pokemon cards while he'd slowly and methodically shoplift Yu-Gi-Oh cards. Hardly things of expense, and he severely cautious. I later told another friend of mines about our misdeeds, and he got excited to shoplift too, but in his case it was video games. This friend, unlike the previous cautious friend I mentioned was a little more of a risktaker and wasn't nearly phased by the consequences. One day, we decided to go shoplifting, but I became severely anxious because he was shoplifting $100+ in videogames. Not only that, despite it being mid-December at the time, we had robust jackets for anything necessary down South. We had the feeling we were being watched, we stormed to the door, I realized we were being chased, I started sprint, he gets tackled and I leave out the store without him. I came home, had to explain to my parents what had happened, his mom was screaming on the phone, and I decided to empty the bottle of sleeping pills, which wasn't much but I passed out into the next day. I don't think his mom can even bare to say I to me, and also the previous cautious friend I mentioned before stopped talking to me altogether after realizing something was wrong with me. This isn't necessarily a story I can humor on, but hopefully in the distant future the social instances wont be so tense between my wrongdoings, his criminal record and with the previous friend. Or not. I've been pretty good the last two years though if any of this painted me in bad light. Edit. Thought I'd end in a more lighthearted note I think most people can get a kick out of. When I was in elementary school, some things were foreign to me, like public restrooms. I had took my piss but always felt odd not wiping in order to end the leak... lol I decide to walk from the toilet stall with my johnson dangling out, going for the napkins next to the sink. A kid I knew saw me and went, "EWWWW" and ran out. The teacher had a talk bizarre talk with me about how "It might be okay in your country, but people take it the wrong way here." Dude, I simply was a clueless fucker back then. ;P HOLYSHIT. Edit 2. This is a good one. I remember when I was in art class in elementary school, I made an awesome dinosaur figure out of clay. Only thing was, I ran out of clay to make complete my 'masterpiece' of the time. Mom picks me up, we get home and I find clay laying on the lawn. I pick it up, stick it on the dinosaur sculpture and my masterpiece was complete. Mom saw it in utter dismay, ended up soaping my hands, mouth, everything. Heh, and I thought I did some wild shit! JUST KIDDING And no, I'm not to going to share any of my stories, but I will say boys will be boys. The past is the past, and even though there might be some cruel shit tossed into that time line, you learn and grow from those experiences and they define who you are today. It's never too late for a comeback |

@MidiPour - Those are some classic stories, and I experienced both in high school as well...some I was merely a witness to, and others I was actively participating in. I also had a shoplifting phase and I remember taking menial items like chocolate bars and comic books. I was never caught, but I now realize how stupid it really was. I don't think any of your stories paint you in a bad night per se, rather you were just a rascal. Andy and I certainly were, but we have since grown up and realized the folly of our ways ![]() @BotzaBrand - You've summed up our message in this podcast. Kids will be kids, and kids sometimes do stupid things. However, we have learned and grown from these experiences, and these lessons will be imparted onto our kids when we eventually have them. |

Andsy, you were the dickhead that turned me into an introvert when not online. Ben, I would have been just like teenage you but teenage Andys turned me into me. Considering you were 290 pounds and pissed on a hobo, that might not be a bad thing.... LOL JK! Good episode, my friends. Looking forward to the next deep discussion-heavy podcast! |

Ah man cmon browland Old may taste like piss but it's effective and grrrreat! If I'm ever in the Toronto area we will slug some haha.. Give St Ides a whirl too! Good old shitty malt liquor... Also Andsy I definitely grew up just one house away from a Nigel type, who perhaps not surprisingly is now incarcerated. What a crazy, depraved, but strangely fun house that was... |

Oh man, I remember Olde English giving the most atomic hangovers. Surprisingly, its also more expensive up here than most premium beers - about $5.50 for a 40 oz bottle. Still, you're right, nothing gets you hammered quite like malt liquor

True, I'm more a fan of St Ides anyhow... though O Es are nice up snowboarding haha.. Ice Cube endorse St Ides, how could it be a bad thing? Like Anaconda... or ... Are We There Yet? Anyways have to show some love to good old Mad Dog 20 20 as well, the best of all bum wine haha.. ![]() Anyway these special episodes are cool. You guys speak about so much anyhow that a break from ALL gaming speaking is refreshing. I'm curious what the other episodes will entail... Also, strip clubs are so ridiculous. primal... but entertaining regardless. Nothing like seeing the stretch marks of a stripper from their previous child to make you have a clear conscience about ogling at a stranger... |

I've never tried MD 20/20, but then again, its not available in Canada and stuff like that isn't my thing anyway. By the looks of it, those are quite sugary. Sugary booze = skull-crushing hangovers :S |

Will be listening to this tonight! Wanted to save it when I went back to work and have a good old chuckle! Judging from the responses, you guys seemed to be quite the rascals in the past! Thank goodness you've matured in a way! I was pretty much a goody two-shoes child who did well in school and didn't hang out with a bad crowd etc except for a while in college, which made me slack on work but picked right up during my HND years! |
