Have you looked at the perks of joining certain covenants? How did you distribute your stat points? (like how much VIT, END, DEX, FAITH, etc)

God I love this game. I have platinum's in both Demons and Dark Souls, I only wish that the "Artorias of the Abyss" dlc would come out sooner.

Good on you Andy for getting around to beating it.

Currently SL92... Think Im gunna go farm for a bit. Get my VIT up. So tough.

Edit: Awesome job Justin. I'm not sure if I'll go back to Demons Souls after Dark... I own it already, but it didn't catch on with me anywhere near as much as Dark Souls did.

I kinda forgot that Kiln was a PvP hotspot. Used up a humanity to look for a white phantom, made it to the bottom of the steps before being invaded by some phantom asshole.

Gunna go to Duke's Archive, do a couple of runs for souls and humanities. Apparently those blue octopus bastards are good for it?

Either the octopuses or rats work for accumulating humanity, or killing phantoms is an option.

People have reported great success farming baby skellies just outside of Nito's lair. But my problem with that is two fold:

1. Baby Skellies rarely drop humanity for me. I've had 1 drop during my playthrough.
2. Baby skellies are JUST TOO CUTE. I love the way they walk, and want to hug me. :D

3. Baby skellies are at the end of tomb of the giants (ie. a bitch to get to due to the dark corridors) However, if you ever decide to go in that vicinity, you could loot for the rest of the family masks you don't have.

Rats in the Depths are my favourite Humanity farm. The Slimes in the tunnel next to the bonfire are great for titanite too. Remember to use the Gold Serpent Ring when you are farming too! :)

Dude, OMEGA, I noticed the online games we tend to play are usually always the same. We both played Dark Souls, Diablo 3, Guild Wars, etc.. We should get a group going, for real man, instead of repeating what most of us did in the Lets play some MMORPGS! thread. haha

Diablo 3 wouldn't necessarily count as a masochistic game, since it does alot of hand-holding up until the 4th playthrough, which has been nerfed every month since release..

If you want a MANLY game, look no further than:

Morrowind
Planetscape Torment
1000 Spikes

Deadly Towers (Shitty.. Yes, still have to be very ballsy to attempt this game)
Trauma Center
Nocturne (this is the pinnacle of 'manly' in the MegaTen franchise)
OR any point and click adventure game..

Proceed to tear your hair apart.

At the the point you are in the game I would suggest dropping your white soapstone and helping others defeat Lord Gwyn. Not only do you get practice with the boss fight the summon times are super low and the soul rewards are pretty damn high. Use the "Covetous Silver Serpent Ring" if you have it. *edit. Killing bosses as a phantom also earns you humanity.

Also if you don't mind, what kind of build are you?

I've merely 'attempted' to play those games I mentioned, I could never push myself to properly sit down and play them. Each one has its own unique difficulty curve..

For Planetscape, it was the difficulty of embracing the theme and dialogue.
For Morrowind, it's the unintuitive interface that made it difficult to push forth in the game.
For Deadly Towers, it was the flawed game mechanic and design that superficially lengthened the game.
For 1000 spikes, it was the persistent necessity of trial and error to succeed through the game.

Now that I think about, these games make Dark Soul seem like a relative cake walk since it at least holds your hand in with the tutorial stage.

Awesome. So, so awesome.

As for stats, my stats are fucked. I've invested in END as my main. 40's I believe. STR and DEX are 30s. Everything else is low. Real low. I'll grab the exact figures later on.

Currently on +5 Maiden outfit, with lightning hollow soldier shield at +4. Will probably swap this for a dark knight shield for Gwyn. Also, Gravelord Sword. BANG.

Ok, 40 is the most you should have your Vitality and Endurance at for the first run through. Other stats are dependant on what weapon your want to use. If you are going to use lightning/fire weapons you only need to get strength/dexterity to the minimum amount for that weapon as they do not scale with stats.

So from the Dark Souls wiki:
Gravelord Sword base damage--->265+Toxin dmg/Max dmg--->397 dmg + Toxin.
Lvl 1 Fire Halberd--->165+165 Fire dmg/Lvl 10 ---->308+308 Fire dmg.

So as you can see it is beneficial to invest in an elemental weapon so that you can spend your points in areas other than strength and dexterity.

Yeah, my VIT is poor.

I'm not going halberd, hate those weapons ;D - But it is time I farm a tonne and get a decent weapon, I heard he's weak to fire, despite being covered in the stuff?

I'll have borderlands 2 tonight, so I might drop off a bit. I don't know. I will finish this game though. IF IT KILLS ME.

Also, DLC. 23rd October. 800 points I heard? Fuck yeah.

The halberd was just a placeholder. It is my preferred weapon, but you can replace it with pretty much anything and still get pretty good DPS.

It took me a little less than two weeks to finish the first playthrough of Dark Souls.

I used a +10 divine reinforced club for the vast majority of the game. Actually, I used the reinforced club from the first time I got it from the vendor until almost the end of the game because of its built in jump attack and the bleed. Though at the end I switched to a +5 black knight great axe for the final battle.

In the end, I used the +5 Ascended Pyromancy Flame and the axe in tandem to beat Gwyn. I mostly ran around dodging until he tried to grab and then pelted him with fire. When he got down to about 25 percent health I ran in and parried with the great axe and then mashed hits until he died.
