Most of my good memories were actually from Turok 1. I was so blown away by how it looked and how it played with the analog stick, and it didnt actually seem to bother me too much that i had to use the C buttons to move around. Though the N64 FPS contol scheme really bugs the hell out of me now.

The first time i shot an enemy and blood spurted out of his neck had me rolling on the floor laughing for a very long time.

I first played Turok 1 when I was like 7 via my fathers PC collection, and boy was I lucky to have. I played the living shit out of it, and looking back on it in comparison to the N64 version which I now own, the PC version was far superior. Such great memories though. I loved exploring the massive jungle levels at the time and yea ill admit it, I had to utilize the cheats a lot, but it still made for a great experience haha. I get real nostalgic when the humorous intro for Iguana Entertainment kicks in.

Yeah, i did like the Iguana intro's. Growing up we only got a demo of Turok for PC and we could never get it to work, back in the days of fickle 3D GFX cards and massive incompatibility issues etc. Those were the days...

I actually played Rage Wars quite a lot too, it got a bit repetitive after a while and it wasnt really a patch on Quake III but i used to love that gun turret. Everyone always wanted to play goldeneye but i thought Rage Wars was every bit as fun if you could get 4players going. The bot AI was pretty good for the time too, so even the solitary experience could be enjoyable.

what would be cool is if someone could get turok dinosaur hunter the first one and make it open source and it could run on windows 7 that would be awsome but the intro was awsome i remember it at a kid and being like this is gonna be sweet

I just remember the levels being crazy long. Its been a long time since I've played this. I found a complete copy a few years ago out in the wild for like 5ish bucks.

These aren't the droids we're looking for.

Ah, Turok... I got Turok: Dinosaur Hunter for Christmas from my grandmother back in 1997 or so. She didn't understand games at all, so she judged the title solely by the pictures on the back and thought it involved riding dinosaurs around. My brother and I had it for about a month or so before she saw us playing it, blasting people in the neck with shotguns and whatnot, watching them hold their necks and falling to the ground as they violently bled out. She immediately took it away from us and bought us another game in its place (can't for the life of me remember which one). Finally got it back a few years ago (it spent well over a decade on the top shelf of her closet).

I absolutely loved the game, especially the eeriness the fog created; you never knew what would come running out at you. The guns were incredibly satisfying, especially the Chronoceptor (which my friend and I only realized how to use a few years ago). Since I never had a memory pak back in the day, I had to use cheat codes to beat the game. The cheats were also really great, right up there with GoldenEye 007's.

I never really got to play the sequels though, and it sucked when I saw they rebooted the series awhile back. The series needs to return to its roots.

Most of my memories were from Turok: Rage Wars. Considering it was really just a multiplayer-only game, the "single player" campaign was still fun with its level select maps, the unlock system, the wide array of game modes, and the interesting arsenal of weapons.
