This week, we are joined by Stephanie, aka. StepsTooDef, long-time Youtuber and gamer extraordinaire. The key topic this week is gamer sentimentality, and we discuss our passion for gaming, how our collecting habits have changed over the years and what gaming really means to us. If you're thinking that such an introspective means that we're putting on a clean and proper show, you're wrong. The usual tangents, foul humour and other oddities inevitably find their want into the discussion. Here is the link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U53X1OTBWQs&feature=g-u-u As always, the iTunes and MP3 download links are in the video description. Question of the Week Do you have a collection (gaming or otherwise) that you've ever had to sell off or downsize? What circumstances would compel you to get ride of some (or all) of your collection? |

Hey guys, great episode! Sorry for the lack of feedback and responses as of late! Trust me, I do listen to every episode, but I just hadn't been able to consistently respond like I used to because I was usually one or two episodes behind on every podcast for a while. But I have made a nice recovery and am all up-to-date on every podcast I listen to, so expect more active responses from me again. QOTW Answer: As with zaven, downsizing hasn't been much of an issue yet, as a result of my age. My brother and I kind of share our collection at the moment for the most part aside for handhelds, so it wouldn't be easy to downsize in that regard because some things would have to be passed through him. Recently I have been pondering the thought of selling games I have no intention of playing or games I've gotten my full fulfillment out of in exchange for more games and more experiences. I do like to see all of my games lined up on the shelf, but as my room's space starts to shrink, I'm wondering if it will be worth it in the long run, when I could just be appreciating more games and having more unique experiences to share. There are many games that hold sentimental value to me and I am pretty sure I would hold on to all of my GameCube games because of how beloved it is to me, but I do think Ben's got a good thing going with how he buys games, experiences them to the fullest, then sells them using primarily just those profits for more games. It's a pretty simple and logical process that I may take up in the future. For now I will keep with the trend of not selling my games, but once my brother moves out I will weigh my options, especially now that I will start getting a solid source of income for once, next summer. |

Awesome episode, i just started listening a few weeks ago and it has now come one of my staple regulars. QOTW answer- I am currently in the process of downsizing my videogame collection. The main reason behind this being the amount of games i have ammased on the cheap (ps2 games esspecially i think andy will understand haha) I hate the idea of having so many games that i dont play or really intend to play, dont get me wrong after ive downsized i will still have a large collection but hopefully filled with games i believe are worth my time. I would part with my collection in a heartbeat if it ever caused any adverese affects towards my family. James- |
