This week, the Rad Rascals are joined by popular Youtuber and filmmaker extraordinaire Johnny Millenium, aka. Happy Console Gamer. Among the many topics covered includes Johnny's channel, the process and conclusion of making his movie and a recent go-around with EB Games that may just compel him to chock a bitch...or give him a high five, depending on the outcome. We also delve into some of our most warmly nostalgic memories and talk about 80's culture, which made us feel rather old. This is a Rascals episode for the ages and we hope you'll enjoy it.

Here's the link for the episode: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bgRJ8ZCY1JA&feature=g-u-u

The MP3 and iTunes download links are in the video description.

Also, BIG NEWS! Check out our new website. It's a work in progress, so feel free to give us feedback and suggestions. We greatly welcome it. It's http://www.radrascals.com

Question of the Week

What are some of the products, toys or games from your childhood that you want to have back? Let's get nostalgic, people :D

Great episode, i think you guys could have talked for another 3 hours though if you didnt stop, am i right?
I was hoping for a 4 hour since i listened to it while playing super mario bros on the nes and the podcast ended when i got to world eight (this a few minutes ago)

QOTW: Awh nostalgia, i can rember it like it was yesterday, wait it was. As i have said numerous times im a youger listener so im am living future nostalgia now. In 20 years things like listening to the radical rascals or playing skyrim for the first time will be the nostolgic things for me as watching Star Trec was for you. Going back to when i was even younger though there are "nostolgic" things. I was a second genration star was kid, born into the prequal era and my parents, being born in the orginal trilogy era, grew me and my siblings up on star wars. I rember have action figures for the star wars characters that were all either lost or eaten. When it comes to games thats funny part was when i was like 7 or 8, i was afraid of video games, i relly cant explain it but i wouldnt play the games i would only watch either my dad or my friend play them with me watching. The one game that everyone in my family played were the crash bandicoot on the ps1 which i still havent bought back yet. But a werid way of thinking of it is in a facebook johnny had a picture of him and his friend in the army and it said that the friend showed him wonder boy when they were 14, that will be the same for me, so in 20 some years i can tell my chrildren when i was 14 i played that game and that will be nostolgic for me as it is for johnny. Being able to look back and have memories for games i play now that are already nostalgic for others who grew up with them. I will tell of the nostolgic felling of playing great games like chrono trigger and the utter disipointment's such as the trash GodHand.

I already know it is going to be a good episode when I saw Mr Millenium's mug on the picture on the Youtube page. Will listen to it tonight at work and congrats on launching the website. Looks nice! Also, I want to say to Andy about last week's episode that Master Chief was never a mute and always talked from the first game in the series. Again, being Mr "Pain in the ass pointing out people's mistakes" Moore! Will give you my question of the week response when I listen to the episode tonight.

Short comment.
Ben you claimed a Van Halen song was 'classic'. I have to disagree- Van Halen is terrible and overrated, absolutely no redeeming qualities or good songs. :)

Anyway,
I'm not too nostalgic over much, one of the few things I do nostalgia over is my collection of old WCW and WWF wrestling toys.

I've always enjoyed Van Halen. It's like the junk food of rock music, not the best thing you could get, but it's oh so enjoyable :D

I have very little faith in the youth of today. Everyone needs to appreciate something so bad its awesome. :P

I want my Action Force/G.I Joe toys back! Loved them so damn much but i have no idea what happened to them.

Andy speaking of cunts just made me think of this...

I'm young, but I'm not really a youth...I'm almost 21. I just in general can't stand hair metal. Great musicians? Mostly. But it takes way more than skill to make excellent music, its funny, as a guitarist people always look at my weird when I say I don't like Van Halen- but it's my belief he's beyond overrated (as is Led Zeppelin, story for another thread). He wasn't as innovative as people think he is, and he was outclassed in ability, technique, and melody by Randy Rhoads (just go listen to SATO or Believer by Ozzy Osbourne).

It's funny, despite being born in the early 90s, I still Identify far more with that musical style, and culture, than say the late 90s - early 2000s when I was at my most impressionable.

Very enjoyable episode guys, as I knew it would be since it had my favourite AGG member on it after all! I could easily listen to Johnny talk about his stories for hours. Luckily, he got the Wii U and didn't have to choke a bitch, as Andy said! Pretty much share your sentiments on Zelda: Skyward Sword since it seems we might be missing something but dont know what!

Anyway for the question of the week response: I would very much like to still have my old Power Ranger toys since I was really into the show back in the early to mid 90s! I had all the Megazords, Dragonzord & Tigerzord from the first series and a bunch of Power ranger & villain figures! The show is super cheesy when you go back to it (then again, it always was) and didn't realise until a few years ago that it was based on the Super Sentai series from Japan and that they used stock footage from it! Find it astounding it is still going today but the first three seasons, which comprised of the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers series were the best.

Most of the games I fondly remember growing up with I have in my possession now in one form or another hence there is nothing in that side of things I wish I still had! Whenever I want to get that good nostalgic feeling, I go upstairs to my retro room/bedroom and put in a game like Sonic 3 & Knuckles (best Sonic game) or Super Castlevania IV and feel like I am 9 or 10 years old again (currently 27). Some of my favourite gaming moments include having to play Donkey Kong Country for the first time with a 3rd party controller shaped like a Mega Drive controller (I mentioned this when I was on), playing my favourite game of all time (Zelda: ALTTP) for the first time all the way through.

One thing I can say is that they don't make TV shows like they used to since nowadays most UK shows are just reality TV show shite, which some people gobble up like idiots! I remember fondly watching old video game shows here in the UK called Games World and Gamesmaster and watching some of the games that were out or coming up. Bit of trivia here for UK people but if you remember theBig Boy Barry show from Games World, the geeky friend of his was played by David Wailliams of Little Britain Fame. Knightmare was a cool show as well where you enter this VR world and a team have to help you navigate it by avoiding obstacles and enemies etc. Used to have them on Challenge here but not anymore.

One of my all time favourite shows was The Crystal Maze and I am not sure if NA got anything like it but it was awesome. I always wanted to be on that show and actually dreamt a few times that I was back in the day. You should look it up on Youtube and elsewhere and check it out. I still watch a few on Challenge from time to time.

qotw - where do i start, so so many things from my childhood id love to get back. prob the things id most like back are my toy collections. id love to get back my m.a.s.k, he-man, transformers toys, i had loads of these and they got left up in the attic when we moved house in 1990, i was gutted. i have started buying back some of the he-man figures i had, the transformers and m.a.sk toys are a bit to expensive for me at the moment though. i aint to concerned about the games i had as a kid as they are all readily available on emulators, ok its not the same but it will do. also i had this film way back in the day called the dirt bike kid. it was awesome and i cant find it anywhere on dvd, its on youtube but its split in so many parts. i think i can speak for all us over 30s when i say "the feeling", hold the jokes, i mean that little feeling you would get when you got a new game or toy the only way i can describe it is magic lol

Haha, im only 27 but i act like an old man a lot. Im completely stuck in the 80's-early 90's most of the time. I was definetly born 10 years too late.

Everyone likes what they like at the end of the day, music is a wonderful thing. Even the stuff we see in the charts, it's horrendous to most of us but it makes someone smile and dance somewhere.
I think Eddie Van Halen is pretty damn good, Randy Rhoades was a far more proficient songwriter but Eddie is a phenomenal performer and a little more extreme in his executions, we wouldn't have had the same range of insane 80's guitarist without his influence. Im not even a big Fan of Van Halen, but sometimes thier music is just perfect for certain moods. Diary of a Madman is so damn eerie for the time, sounds like it would be better suited to Alice Cooper haha.

I agree that Led Zepplin are over-rated, good but over-rated.

I loved the episode, Johnny never ceases to be an amazing guest on podcasts. Your humors mesh perfectly. I could tell that the whole time, Johnny was thinking "Dafuq?!" at how long the episode was going. It always makes for great conversation when some old men talk about nostalgia. :{P

You might think with me being such a Wii nipper that I would have no nostalgia, but that's certainly not the case. Since I grew up primarily with the N64 in my family (even though the SNES was my first system), I really wish I could even just go back to that. Technically I don't want the N64 back since I still have one, but I just want that feeling back. It used to be so carefree in my house, with everyone from my sister & her friends to my brother and I all playing some GoldenEye and freaking out often. Now my sister really doesn't play games anymore and everyone has jobs, so it's so rare to get everyone together and just enjoy the time and even if we do, it doesn't have that same inexplicable feeling. My brother and I are even starting to not play games together as often because of schoolwork and other nonsense, but when we do it's usually just BRAWL or some Call of Duty from time to time. Nowadays everything is so focused on online and reasonably so, but I just wish splitscreen multiplayer was as prominent as it used to be. That's part of the reason why I've started up some weekly game nights with five of my other friends in which we engage in some friendly competition in both video games and board games. ES GOOD TIMES

WE'RE BRINGIN' SPLITSCREEN BACK. YEP!

I want Capcom to bring back Alien vs. Predator the arcade game and put it on XBLA/PSN, I used to play the shit out of it at the local roller rink instead of wasting money on renting skates. I also want Sony to pick up the rights to a light gun game called Carnevil since The Move is only good for light gun games. And Sega needs to make a new Streets of Rage since they're not doing anything else at the moment.

noooo. no more Streets of Rage from SEGA, they've proven they're not up to the task recently, with what they've done to Sonic and all.

Are you married? Do you want a big strong man in your life? If you do, you've found him.

I had a conversation the other day about Beat em Up's and we came to the conclusin that Arcade AVP and Streets of Rage 2 are the best, handsdown!
The rest can be debated, but these 2 are king. None even come close.

If we just get a proper release of that Bomber Games Remake of SoR there would probably be world peace.
