I don't think I'm an expert, but I do have 20+ systems. I think that when you're dealing with console purchasing, the games/accessories you get with them matter a lot too. I will give prices that seem to be fairly accurate (not "Buy It Now" prices on ebay), based on the assumption that you might be getting a few games with them, if purchasing locally. Depending on the model of Atari 2600 you're getting, the price varies. I will say that they are not rare, so unless you have one with tons of games, I wouldn't recommend ever exceeding $40 or so (unless it's the heavy sixer model, I suppose). I suspect that some people have stories of practically getting some for free. My buddy got a super clean 4-switch Atari w/6 games for $35 and I thought that was perfect. Intellivisions tend to fetch a slightly higher price than 2600s. Again, depending on the number of games you get with one, I expect you to pay $40-55 for one. Intellivision games are very cheap, for the most part, often boxed and often sold in lots, so it's easy to collect for. Colecovisions are on another level price-wise now. I think Ebay is artificially raising the price. I'd expect you to have to pay 55-75 for a colecovision with a couple of games. With the Colecovision, accessories more often come with them, so you need to be aware of that too when purchasing (i.e., if you're getting super action controllers, a steering wheel and the Atari 2600 adapter, then maybe $80 isn't that bad.) For boxed copies of these 3 systems, as you mentioned you are seeking, I think you can add at least $40-$50 to these estimates, maybe even more. Those are my best estimates. I don't know how committed you are to older systems like these, but you might want to look into collecting for the Magnavox Odyssey 2 as well. Consoles tend to be pretty expensive, but games are very affordable. Edited by jansolee66, Jan 12 2013, 09:44 AM.
