Well, the PlayStation 2 has finally ceased production (Jan 4, 2013), marking the end of the console's 12.5 year life span. I was too young to remember the launch, I was 4 when it was launched in Japan. Nonetheless I still have many fond memories of the system, too many good games to list. So, what are some of your favourite games/memories of the mighty PS2? |

The PS2 may have been a contributor to making me a gamer. Before 2003 or so, I wasn't a huge gamer and the only games I played were at an arcade (Marvel vs. Capcom 2 was pretty much the only game I played at the time). One day my brother bought a PS2. I was kinda surprised because this came out of nowhere. However we had an old TV with no RCA output, so we had to buy one of those video outputs for old TVs (the one with the needle, I don't know what it's called) so we couldn't play it that day. Bu then I remembered the TV in the living room had RCA output so when my bro went to work, I plugged in into the living room TV. My bro bought Mega Man X7, which is probably the reason why he bought the PS2 in the first place, and I booted it up. From then on, my life has changed forever. I have played the PS2 before but for some reason playing it in my own home without any restrictions was a completely different experience. First time I saw Mega Man X7, it kinda blew me away. I couldn't believe what I was seeing. It was amazing. I consider the PS2 my all time favorite console. Edited by J-R, Jan 25 2013, 10:39 PM.

Most of my memories have been from playing it at other people's houses, not mine, so I don't have extremely fond memories about it, but it's still an impotent part of gaming. Nowhere near as awesome as the GameCube to me, but still pretty good. I remember playing jack and daxter, Simpsons hit and run, etc. There are a lot of games I would like to play that are on the PS2, like KH2, persona 4, and FFX, but I just haven't really played the PS2 enough. |

My favorite memory is getting it christmas morning playing and just being blown away by games like Guitar Hero II, Dragon Quest VIII, and Kingdom Hearts. Man...good times. |
