Can we get some Arc the Lad love in here? I'm a fan of the series and would kill for a release on the PS4! What's your favorite Arc the Lad game? Or if you don't like it, why not?

One of my favorite RPG's of all time is Arc the Lad: Twilight of the Spirits on the PS2. I love it so much I wrote a pretty lengthy review of it here on PGRF right after beating it. It's hidden here somewhere if you search the game or my username.

I was interested in picking it up but never did for some reason. It's one of those few top level RPGs for the PS1 that I didn't pick up. Definitely interested in it though if I can find it for the right price.

Personally, I discovered the series with Arc the Lad IV: Twilight of the Spirits. In hindsight, the voice acting and plot leave a lot to be desired. That said, I think its a really fun game that's fairly easy. If you were to start with games in the Arc the Lad collection, the first game is extremely short clocking in at about 10 hours. Comparatively, the second game will take about 60 hours of your time, while the others average about 30 hours a piece.

In one last bit of advice, I would not recommend Arc the Lad: End of Darkness. It poorly represents the series, and functions as a spinoff more than anything. I hope this helps, and that you guys will try out the series!

Amazing series. Loved the hell of it. Arc 1 is kinda a weaker point since its very primitive gameplay and menus wise, but like tri4ceofcourage said its short. Play it, understand the story, and move to Arc 2 and 3, were are amazing. Twilight of the Spirits is great and I could easily see it becoming a "hidden gem" game when PS2 really starts becoming retro.

I remember playing the demo like 20 times when I was a kid..... never ended up buying it. Maybe I should get on that, lol.
