I finally picked up Shenmue 1 and 2 a couple of weeks back after so many years.
I'm about 4 or 5 hours in.

Anyone else here currently playing though this game for the first time (or a re attempt)?

Its interesting to finally experience this game. I remember the build up to it and wanting it at the time but didn't get it for various reasons. I can definitely appreciate how amazing it is and would have been back then. Ahead of its time. I can also see why alot of people didn't like it and found it boring.
I'm hours in and nothing interesting has happened yet but I know this game requires patience.

I'm about the same time through but that is because I have spent 2 hours looking for the fricken hot dog cart in dobuita (think its spelled that way) so I got really bored and quit there should really be a map available everywhere and the map at the entrance is way to inaccurate

I'm playing Shenmue for the first time as well. The game has great atmosphere and music. I just hope the game has more than QTEs and detective work, not that I'm disliking it. Very cool so far.

Finally beat Shenmue. Great game and I look forward to Shenmue II, though I never want to see another forklift ever again.

I just finished Shenmue 1 last weekend. Its been about 12 years since I played through it. It was really great to go back and and see how to stacks up today. I still find it to be a really fun game and still one of my all time favs.

I think its one of those games that is better played when it came out. Seeing how games are today, I can really appreciate what Shenmue has done. Think of it as an experience rather than action, action, action.

I haven't been back to this game for months and months.
I really need to get back to it.

I think Shenmue is one of those games you had to play when it came out to fully appreciate.

I can't believe how quickly the time has passed since making this thread.
I've been playing Shenmue again the last couple of days and finally getting into it. I'm still on disc 1 but i feel that it's getting going finally. I'm at the part of tracking down Charlie.
