My thoughts...

Name: Are they serious? Almost ANY other name would have been better. You can't name it what a lot of people already call the first Xbox. That would be like launching a new Star Trek series based on the JJ Abrams reboot and calling it "Star Trek: The Original Series". The name Xbox One is so bad that even after announcing it to millions of people I still think they should change it. Yes that would be PR suicide, but the name is SO bad that it would be worth it.

Hardware: The box is huge and ugly, but that's okay. They said that it will be whisper quiet and after the last two consoles launched with jet-engine loud hardware and subsequently made them less noisy with future builds I'm glad to see they factored noise in from the get go on this one, especially if they want us to leave it turned on when we watch TV. If it has to be that big at first to pack in all that power and cool it quietly that's fine. This one better not break like crazy like the 360, I don't think we'll give Microsoft another pass if that happens.

Kinect: I love the Star Trek: The Next Generation like voice controls. I'm so happy they decided to begin commands with the word Xbox rather than Kinect this time around, it's a small but significant change. I'm very worried about Kinects being included with all consoles. Motion controls ruined Nintendo consoles for me. With Xbox 360 not everyone had a Kinect so most games were designed to be played without one. Granted some voice commands and such would occasionally be okay but I'm worried that any game I look forward to from here out may force some sort of Kinect controls on me. Fortunately PS4 doesn't have a true Kinect so cross-platform designed games should be mainly playable without such controls (I hope).

Games: I hope they finally stop using hardware restrictions as an excuse and make this the generation of the console MMORPG. Also, as much as I'm looking forward to E3 to see what games they announce, I'm really looking forward to the Microsoft BUILD conference at the end of June when Microsoft is expected to announce whether or not there will be any form of true Indie Development possible on the console.

I'm curious to see how many of you that are bashing the system change their minds when it actually comes out lol.

Anyway, I still really like the controller.

I just hope that they don't try to make a million Halo games and Gears of War games. Although I would absolutely love a next-gen game of both of those series. I don't want it to turn into another Call of Duty and come out every year like a sports title.

Can't wait for E3 to see more about this system and the PS4.

Don't really care for the Wii U except for Dragon Quest X
Yeah, like I said, right now I'm not excited about either system but E3 could change everything for me. I really will avoid any system that won't let me play my games after the system is no longer supported though, it's very important to me to be able to go back to my titles (especially since I still have backlogged games from the SNES and up). The WiiU would be more attractive at $150 for me, especially if they bring a Layton, Ace Attorney, and Persona to it. I just don't see why the WiiU seems to lack the variety and inspiration that the 3DS seems to have...

I didn't know that. I never bought a Kinect but I saw a demo or something once where they said Kinect. It might have been a pre-release demo but at the time I thought it was stupid.

THIS IS A RE-POST OF WHAT I PUT ON ANOTHER FORUM SO IF PART OF THIS IS NON APPLICABLE TO THE CONVERSATION WHOOPS.
Honestly I am enraged by this my girlfriend is the biggest Xbox loyalist I know and she doesn't even have internet. I am the kind of person who is paranoid of monitoring, and that what this whole scheme is for with the online only. I don't like motion control let alone a camera looking at me let alone looking in the same direction to where I get down.

Pros
friends list
solid controller
easily navigable dash
servers
play games while installing (I will probable not do this for efficiency purposes)

Crap I don't give a damn about
voice, trends, tv, etc.
smart glass

Cons
online
Kinect
HDD
Backwards compatibility

THE WORST PART
The used game possibility I'm sorry I don't buy games new let alone anything 95% of the 500 games I own I bought used, same with everything manga, comics, dvd, vhs, laserdisc, you name it I buy almost nothing new except for figures. I am sorry Microsoft but your going to fuck small businesses and Gamestop(a good thing i hate Gamestop) I hate buying games new that 60-70 dollars is no different than the 150-350 dollars I would have had to dish out in the 90's for AES games it is a crime to disallow used games it hurts the lower middle class like myself.
Youtube it is more than just games on my channel

It's probably not even necessary for me to post my views on this abomination at this point right? As it stands, no matter how good the god damn games turn out to be, if you buy it you're a FUCKING IDIOT. If by some god damn divine intervention the situation changes before launch, my opinions of those that buy it might change, but if you get it right now? Well you diserve the sinking ship you bought in to. Do NOT support this nonsense, do NOT reward their utter contempt and disdain for the core gaming audience, do NOT reward them punishing you for wanting to lend or buy a pre-owned game and do NOT reward them for forcing users to be almost perminantly hooked up to their god damn internet service.

I'll just leave these few vids here that illustrate my point better than it's worth me doing.

If Microsoft truly does implement a used game barrier or limitation, I forsee the initial version of the system bombing. I then forsee Microsoft releasing a modified or slimmed-down version afterwards that fixes said-problems, in order to regain marketshare. We'll see what happens though, it doesn't seem a lot of its policies are 100% set in stone yet. There's a lot of "he said, she said" going on right now.

@Chamo I saw that seven gif on another forum. It's pretty great :)

Apparently you will only be able to watch TV on Xbox One in North America at launch and it requires a separate device...

Well, I was gonna wade through all this but I don't have the time right now. So I'll just state what I think real quick:

1. Horrible name. The guy that suggested that name should be fired along with all the other fucks that agreed with him.

2. All the rumors about backwards compatibility, fees for used games, and such. At this point, they are just that. Both sides (PS and Xbox) lob these verbal grenades back and forth, don't get caught up in it until you see it for yourself. Continue to voice your displeasure, however. It was more likely that Xbox was exploring another revenue stream and wanted to see how viable it would be and the consumers' reaction. I'd say it wasn't very good lol.

3. The machine looks nice and I'm glad they don't mess with the best controller in gaming.

4. Seriously? Xbox One? When that was announced, I thought it was some retro thing that all of you guys would jizz over. When it occurred to me that THIS would be the next console, I was underwhelmed. But, the PS4 doesn't really catch my imagination either.

So, I think it may be back to PC gaming for me too, ESPECIALLY if those rumors prove to be true. I will not pay a fee to play a used game or rented game (how would they differentiate?) when I had to pay to buy it or rent it. This could potentially kill Gamestop, which is definitely in Sony and Microsofts' target reticle.

I don't really feel like I will be missing much if I choose not to be in this console cycle.

1. The name - Probably the best name for any system so far. Although, the Credit Humper 3000 that will be released in ten years after Microsoft and Apple merge has the title overall.

2. Always online - WOO! It was about time. I don't see why people are complaining, honestly. I had enough money to buy the Moon and that was only eighty gajillion. Everyone has that. At the very LEAST they should have enough to build a tent out of Google fiber wires. Though it is annoying sharing it with Adam Orth, the bum.

3. No used games - So what, your friends can't play the games you have. Money is my only friend and that's how it should be for you as well. I mean, look at this scenario: You and a friend are playing Mario Kart (HYPOTHETICAL SCENARIO, I should say. Nobody would play that crap, let's be honest. Xx_BrO_fIsT_xX) and he happens to beat you! How dare, he right? Money wouldn't do that to a friendship, it would just sit on the controller while you sped by.

4. No backwards compatability - Why would you want to play the old Maddens? UNLESS, UNLESS YOU LIKE OUTDATED ROSTERS! LOLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL

That about sums up how I feel about it. If anyone is feeling up to it, later I'm gonna be playing some broball. Don't worry, I've plenty of brotorade to go around at the half.

So I have a 360 currently, and I play it somewhat frequently ( not as much as ps3). When I go off to college, the internet there sucks. I mean, it's abysmal. When i don't connect my 360, I'm completely UNABLE to access my arcade titles. I can't play them. None of my digital downloaded games, none of my indie games, NOTHING! Microsoft won't be getting my money this time. Bought a 360. fixed it after it red ringed, and after it red ringed again bought a slim. I'm done. The Xbox one brings nothing to the table that interests me. I'm a pretty big Halo fan, and I indulge in Gears of War now and then but enough is enough. Cheers to those who can reap the benefits of this system. Unfortunately, I'm not one who would be able to appreciate it.

I am disappointed about no backwards compatibility, but it is understandable considering the new hardware. I don't like the direction they are going in though. Not being able to share games. They said it is just like it is now, If you and a friend want to play a game you both have to pay for it. But that is not like it is now, I know plenty of people that trade/share games with other people. They are talking about all these new ways to control your console by voice commands and by your tablet, but honestly that is what a controller is for. I am not lazy to the point where I can't move my fingers on the controller/remote to use the console. A friend of mine(Who is not as hardcore of a gamer) saw my computer on gamestops website "All in one entertainment system" and the first thing my friend said was "Oh, so it's not a game system?" I'm not giving up on Microsoft, but I just hope they pull some big surprises at E3.

On second thought...Unless MS clears up all of the main concerns about the X-one, I may not want to buy this after all, even for Halo. I just can't support a system
that won't give us enough freedom to do what we want with our games and
relies on an internet connection.

I'm more concerned about the always alive Kinect... especially since they've confirmed the ability to play (in the rare instances I don't have a connection) offline and that used games will be an option and NOT at full retail. That always watching Eye of M$ freaks me out though...

If you haven't seen this, you need to watch it. It's a youtube video showing all the key points of the reveal conference in under 2 minutes. It really emphasizes the direction Microsoft is looking with the Xbox One.

It's time I chime in my two cents on this. Personally I wasn't surprised that the unveiling of the Xbox One was underwhelming. However one thing that did surprise me was the name Xbox One. Personally I think it's more stupid sounding then the Wii U and I can definitely see parents that are going to buy the system for there kids confuse it as the predecessor to the Xbox 360.

Now for the console itself they really seem to be putting more emphasis on watching TV on the Xbox instead of being able to play games with the exception of Sports Games and Call of duty. Now There is still E3 which is suppose to be all about the games but something tells me that it's mostly going to be about Kinect, Sports, COD, Halo and Gears of War which to me wouldn't be enough to justify buying the system.

Now for the feature that everyone is talking about which is DRM. Now there seem's to be contradicting reports about whether or not it will always be online or if it will block used games. So right now I am going to take the wait and see approach to this system. If it turns out that there will be no DRM implications to the Xbox one then I may get it eventually if there is games that is worth owning the system for. However if there is DRM for the Xbox then I am not interested. I will not support any company that uses anti consumer tactics like this and if this is how they treat consumers then I am going to take my money elsewhere.

So Long story short my decision on whether or not to buy the Xbox One will depend on whether or not they are going to DRM Used Games.

Oh, and "used games fee" haters please take into account that PS4 has said nothing about their business model when it comes to used games. I love all the talk before systems though because all the fanboys (on both sides) are always wrong. "PS3 is more powerful, it will crush the 360!" "The Wii is too weak, it won't sell any consoles!" "Blast processing is..." Nevermind, Blast Processing rules.
