Needed a thread. I'm curious as to how people feel about this title and it's subsequent sequels (they've announced that there will be a handful of direct sequels such as FF X-2 and FFXIII-2 etc.). Thoughts on the gameplay, Noctis and such?

Turning Versus XIII into a true main numbered FF game in the form XV solidifies Square's vision of turning FF into an action series. I am sure I will pick it up when it releases but I wish they would go back and create some fantastic turn-based experiences again.

My favorite FF games of the last couple of years have been FF IV Complete Collection, FF Dimensions and FF Theatrhythm. XIII was great on its own but turning it into a series is annoying me. I am still not sold on FF XIII-3. XIII-2 was great until the last hour, really hated the open ending and to see XIII-3 seemingly not a direct follow-up from that title is strange.

I am also not a big fan of the lack of party members in XIII-3 and XV. Where are the days that you could find and unlock hidden characters in a FF game? Poor Mog and Vincent.... Or how about the GF hunting in VIII? The excellent chocobo side quests in IX? The uber-challenging Dark Aeons in X?

I think that Noctis looks awesome. I think that the combat in XV looks very fun and I can't wait to try it. I know that Square has been changing the FF franchise over the years but it doesn't really bother me. If I want to play a turned based game, there are so many of them out there for me to choose from, a lot of them being Final Fantasy titles. I am not the biggest fan of FFXIII but I think that they made a good game. I have confidence that XV will be great even if it betrays its roots. I'm not expecting it to be a certain way, just hoping its good. I have a feeling that I will play XV a lot like I did with Kingdom Hearts when I first played it.
Games I have for trade!

I am very excited about this game. It seems more action based, like kingdom hearts, which makes it even more appealing. I'll always have a soft spot for final fantasy :) the shortage of female characters in XV is a bit dissapointing, but we'll see how things turn out.

Personally, I think the storyline and gameplay look fantastic. I am with you all though, about wishing the series would return to form. Gone are the days of turn based battle systems in a Final Fantasy game, or so it seems. I will say this though, in the second to most recent Podcast Beyond (the one from e3) Shuhei Yoshida made a comment about Traditional JRPGs. He alluded to Sony's acknowledgement of re-surging interest in the traditional RPG, and that they'd be looking into getting that kind of support for PS4 and Vita. While there are still plenty of turn based RPGs out there, perhaps this growing interest will sway Square-Enix in the years to come. It's worth a listen, to hear what I'm talking about.

I'm actually intrigued by it, if for no other reason than the mystique of it being a very desired title that was in development for an entire console generation. The gameplay trailer made the game look really fun, and it sold me on the PS4 along with Kingdom Hearts III.

Rise up against the fanboys and make fun of them instead of kill them.

Gonna wait around for reviews. I play for the story anyway, even if the gameplay is painful. If it has a good story then it's on my list. Visuals look good, but it's not really a huge thing for me. Hopefully the gameplay is not a total action game. If it's gonna evolve to an ARPG, still I would give it a shot.
