For all of you Nier fans out there, this game isn't developed by Cavia. Thus, we can infer that it is unlikely wel'll see any Nier tie-ins. When I first looked at this game, I laughed a bit. The graphics are pretty poor, and the gameplay looks stale. Also, the protagonist is strange with her Flower stuck in her eye socket. All of these things aside, I'm pretty interested in the game. Yeah, the game isn't anything special but I'm willing to give it a shot. I can't resist anything with an anime style, especially things published by Square. Thoughts? Drakengard 3 is being developed for PS3 by ACCESS GAMES and has a 2013 launch window for Japan.

You're absolutely correct. The director and producer of Drakengard 1 and Nier are working on this title. Also, they've been quoted (or rather one of them) saying that they want Drakengard 3 to have a Nier like story. If this is the case... *explodes*. NIER is my favorite game of the generation. |

I had no idea that drakengard was related to Nier before today. I might just pick up 1 & 2 to see if I'd be at all interested in 3. But honestly, This itself pretty much sold me on the game. |

Yeah, a lot of people don't know the connection. I think it's something like: Drakengard A Ending -> Drakengard 2 Drakengard E Ending -> Nier Pretty cool stuff, I like the idea of a game spawning two games from different endings. I keep listening to the Drakengard 3 trailer and the music already sounds good, hope it can top Nier's amazing soundtrack |

Drakengard 3 is definitely not going to be for everyone when it comes out. To start with, the graphics are shit. This being said, I'm not a graphics whore - but its something to consider (those initial shots I posted). Gameplay also tends to be stale with Drakengard. Reasons why the game will be awesome include a) girl with flower kunai stuck in eye b) awesome music c) made by Cavia d) kunai stuck in that girl's eye e) music is awesome and f) Cavia made it oh and g) Dragons Edited by tri4ceofpowr, Oct 10 2013, 05:47 PM.

Will the NA version be compatible with EU consoles? I'm looking forward to this game as Nier is one of my favourite jrpgs but I don't want any digital console games. Also what the fuck is with that dragon's voice? Initially I almost cried tears of joy as there seemed to be no little kids but then I hear the dragon's voice and it seems like its going to be the token annoying little brat. For fucks sake. Swap the voice actors of the flower eye and the big ass dragon please. |

Yeah man, the NA version should definitely be compatible with PAL consoles. I think the only region locked PS3 game is Persona 4 Arena ( to my knowledge that is. That's a pretty blanket statement to make without being certain). As for the dragon, yeah I don't know what's up with that man. Maybe its young, maybe they're trying to do some Emil kind of thing. Who knows

So Drakengard 3 had release info revealed today. As I watch the video I'm posting below, I can't help but notice significant similarities to Nier. As we've discussed in previous posts and on other topics, I understand that this isn't necessarially the same Cavia that developed Nier (although many team members are still present). Holy crap that trailer is awesome!!! I love Drakengard 1-2 and NIER and this Looks like the perfect blend of both. The action swordplay stuff looks a LOT like NIER's gameplay...camera angle and everything. The graphics even have a NIER vibe!! This comes out 1 day before my B'day and this will be a great gift to myself

I can vouch for this. The Drakengard games are also tangentially related - you wouldn't be missing out on much of anything if you haven't played 1 or 2. However, if you fall in love with the game, going back to play them could prove to be really entertaining. |

Hey did any Nier fans happen to pick this game up? I just found out it came out yesterday! Pretty mediocre reviews across the board but Nier received the same treatment so this is a game I'm definitely looking for player impressions on rather than sites. |

I originally meant to buy this the day it launched but I just FINALLY snagged a copy today new for $39.99 and I will be storming through it as soon as I finish my re-play of FFXIII-2. It did get mediocre scores from 'Critics' but it scored 9/9/8/8 (34) or 8.5/10 in Japan by Famitsu and most Youtube reviews have been in the 7-8/10 range. I seems the hack-n-slash combat is loved by everyone as well as the music and the only things being nitpicked are the Dragon Controls flying sequences and the graphics. Meh the graphics look on par with NIER to me so I can deal with the flying portions being slightly off. I will come back and post my personal experiences once I get a chance to dive in and play it. |

tis a great review! I haven't played the first or second in the series, and I have only played an hour or 2 of nier (should probably play more, I have owned it for years XD) but if I ever get to beating nier I will probably pick this up
