@Muragaru,
I can definitely understand the bonds developed between people over time, but there's definitely the cliques that were hard to be apart of when I first started posting more (and lurking less) in the beginning of 2012. However, with that there are an equal amount of people (if not much more) who were very welcoming of me. I think this forum is good about welcoming people who decide to stick around longer and have something to contribute.

Of course, I think it's hard to create an podcast here and expect people to be interested. At one point, about every single person on the forum made a podcast, and really no one had the time to listen to one another. For me there's been too many good podcasts I want to listen to, but can't find the time to listen to. I enjoyed Power On, Rad Rascals, OKS, etc- and try to listen to them every so often, but it's hard to commit when there's a thousand others outside of this community.

Another thing is people might think the group we started a year ago, Virtua Guild, is a clique. However it's anything but that, most of us have been welcoming to new people in the chat and try to compensate with the mibbit if people want to chat but can't use Skype. The only thing is some people are more active on it than others, besides that anyone is welcome and I've personally always tried to not make anyone feel alienated from the chat calls after one call where no one knew this one forum member was there the whole time. :(

Until we automate a lot of these different sources we'll have to dig deeper to find out which water cooler we're hanging out in.
I'm hanging out in this one

1. I agree to an extent. It's always a bit rough going when people first start up, but if the activity was there to begin with I think it would help ease newer members into the forums. I guess it really felt like the forums were stuck in this rut of only trying to talk to certain people or clamoring for their attention instead of getting to know more of the people already here.

2. The reason why I brought up the aspect of my podcast was to point out that despite not throwing it all over the forums, we had been contributing with a lot of different ideas for people to discuss when it comes to gaming, whether retro or modern. I completely understand not having the time to listen to everything. Hell, I barely have time nowadays to do much of that. Even if you didn't listen, the topics were set up for discussion yet have been entirely disregarded by most people on here. Sure, some of them won't resonate with people, but we've tried to be diverse enough in our topics so that anyone could have a chance to add their ideas, opinions, and thoughts. This makes me point out the clique thing and many people not venturing out of them.

Honestly, I have no idea what the Virtua Guild is. That' s great that you try to get people to talk to one another on Skype though.

I just discovered this forum yesterday and have been having a blast reading through it. I am kind of sad that it took me this long to find the site, but I certainly hope things pick up. Having a place for like-minded gamers and collectors to share discussions is great and I do plan to contribute where I can.

I'm one of the newer members here, and I've been checking every day for new topics and also topics I've already responded to. My problem is that I don't always have a response to some topics that people post. I don't like responding if I feel like I have nothing to say, and I certainly don't like being pressured into saying anything. Checking the forums is a part of my daily routine now, so I'll definitely add my two cents if I think I can.

Rise up against the fanboys and make fun of them instead of kill them.

Wow this forum really has hit rock bottom... Time to clean up the pieces!

Anyway, I've never really been an active member of this forum. Perhaps if I had bothered to more regularly post rather than just lurk things might have been a bit better. Either way from now on I will try to be more active on this forum.

I could be totally wrong, but I think this forums biggest weakness is its label. This forum is and always has had an incredible community, but because its so strongly tied with PeteDoor it has stayed obscure. Perhaps if we re-branded the forum as a general gaming one, and started advertising it to people who don't know about Pete's videos, the forum would become more active?

The new guy here

Too many cats in this topic. Start throwing them into the river. Only good pussy is....well you know.

In all seriousness.

Yes I am a newer guy here, and I am guessing some shit hit the fan while I haven't been totally active and I have been mainly spamming my videos thread in the Youtube section, but I still come here to read off and on.

It's been a busy month for me offline, and so on, and like the original poster said, people have more important things like real life stuff.

I am sure once fall/winter hits, this place will get active again.
