http://store.steampowered.com/app/239070/?snr=1_5_9__205 I just bought this game. It has online coop and single player. Plays like a beast with the 360 controller or keyboard and mouse. Graphics: A+ Music: A+ Combat: A+ This game does it for me. For any hack and slash fans please check this out. The money is right and the experience so far has been great. |

I definitely recommend this game, it is especially fun grouping up with a bunch of people to coop through the game. Me and a number of people within the Virtua Guild group have been blasting through Hammerwatch, including; MrTechnoSqueek, Tr3vor, BelgianCleaver and Golem. What I especially like is the vintage throwback graphics, game mechanics and difficulty. At first glance, you can tell it was built to look like a SNES/Genesis/PSX game, but it doesn't end there, you can go even further with that by making the game 3:4, CRT style in the options menu. Then there's the fact that there is no save system or heavily RPG level/gear system. Every time you play, you start from scratch. You can upgrade your health and mana pool, or combos/weapon from venders, but it's not as heavily customizable or stat dependent as it is avoiding getting hit by the enemy. There's the difficulty that is amazing, especially when you put it on hard and set up some 'challenges'. The game's challenge is heavily customization, but it's recommendable to play it like a rogue-like (or close to one) than to put infinite lives just to tear through the game. You customize it so that you have 1 HP, 1 life. Or you could alter it so you can do double damage and have health regen as well. This game is so fun that it's worth just repeating playthroughs on the hard difficulty honestly. |
