Sega Does What Nintendon't

I need to pick up a VGA box for my Dreamcast. How do you get sound out using the VGA adapter? does it have a place to hook PC speakers into it?

I really need one too, just looks terrible on my TV through an RF connection. Just way too much interference for the style of graphics it has!

They cost so much though... :peachcry:

You can actually convert the Dreamcast RF adapter to Composite cables. The RF modulation, I believe takes place in the actual cable/adapter on that one. I adapted one and it was cheap and easy. Just needed an old set of Composite cables, the adapter, some electrical shrink wrap, and a soldering iron with some solder. It's been a while, but the info is out there on the web. Not quite as good as VGA, but Composite looks great on the Dreamcast.

I think i'd rather just go VGA and be done with it myself, Composite is better than the regular RF but that VGA is just so sharp that it would like quite nice on my flatscreens. I may look into the modification of the cable though, worth a bash at least.

That would be best. I procrastinated for so long and finally bit the bullet and purchased a VGA box a long time ago and it is night and day. Worth it 100%!

I'm sure the VGA adapter is way better quality, and if I had a collection of DC games worth playing I would love to have one also. I was mostly mentioning the mod because it is probably much more accessible, cheap, and a pretty easy mod to do for better quality in the meantime.

I'm impressed with how good the dreamcast looks through the VGA box on a flat screen monitor.
