I've been following the news this past week on the PS4's supposed inability to allow players to capture gameplay footage. YouTube uploads are not available via the Share button, HDCP encryption stripping is illegal, and Shuhei Yoshida gave a kind of non-answer via Twitter on Thursday. I think this is a major oversight on their part, and I wonder if they'll file infringement claims against YouTubers who upload gameplay after finding workarounds. I have never streamed on Twitch, but I'm curious if they allow you to save the stream and upload to Youtube, after which you download, edit, and reupload your video. Quality would be compromised, but at least it is something. What do you guys think? Or is there a legal workaround that I am missing? |

If you stream to twitch, you could download your twitch recording and put it on YouTube, or sync your twitch with youtube and it'll auto upload. |

I think they will turn a blind eye regarding HDCP for games(like they have been doing so far)...the HDCP is there to prevent people from ripping off blurey movies in 1080p...it just so happens that it affects games too because they get streamed from the same hdmi output but i doubt that was premeditated. uploading gameplay footage on youtube is a big part of the industry...sony will not turn its back on the community(microsoft tried that just a few months ago and you saw the backlash) i never considered the "share" function as a viable mean of capturing game footage...we will capture the way we always have...with capture cards...hopefully the next gen capture card will record 1080p/60fps and have an internal mechanism to bypass the HDCP(if not theres the little 10$ converter box that converts hdmi to dvi, gets rid of the decryption and converts it back to hdmi...i use that and it works flawlessly) lets just hope youtube gets its head out of its ass and decides to let us upload 60fps(damn bandwit whores....richest company on the planet and this is the treatment we get....SMH) |

Thanks for the input. I was actually hoping you could just copy recordings from the PS4's HDD to a flash drive...but that seems too convenient. |
