Nintendo Life reports that the Wii Mini has been priced at $99 and comes with WiiMote, Nunchuck, and a free copy of Mario Kart. The company told them that the console is due, “mid-November”.

The console offers no online functionality and comes after a limited release across Europe and an initial launch in Canada.

It comes after the original Wii was confirmed as discontinued across Europe.

I've been considering getting one and might get one later this year. Wii U to me has 0 system sellers so it'd be just a waste of money and space for me.

I know im overreacting but to me they need to call this virtual boy part 2 and start over.... I love nintendo but this one really just isnt going anywhere. When your making another version of a system that has already been made smaller less than a year ago... something is just wrong...

Nintendo have not learnt from Sony's mistakes.

Remember when the PS3 was struggling and Sony were all like, sup. You heard about my PS2 slim?

While it worked out for Sony in the end when it came to the PS3, it's a business practice worth avoiding.

I really don't see why everyone is surprised about this. Nintendo did this with the NES with the NES 2 when the SNES was already out. They made the SNES mini when the N64 was coming out. Sega released a Genesis 3 when the Sega CD and Saturn were out. The Atari 2600 JR came out after the 5200 and even close to when the 7800 was coming out. Sony PS1 mini came when ps2 was out, ps2 mini came out around ps3 time, and ps3 just had a slim version come out near ps4 launch. Gameboy micro also came out when DS was already out.

Nintendo could be doing this because people wanted the red mini that was exclusive to Canada and the US. Or they could be doing it to leverage more sales because, oh I don't know, the Wii sold like hotcakes? Nintendo isn't the only ones to do this nor will they be the last. Wake up people.

As a collector, this will be nice to have because 1) few will probably be sold, meaning worth more in 10 or 20 years (think Top Loader NES) and 2) no motorized slot drive, so it will last longer.

Just buy a used Wii and get wireless internet functionality and gamecube backwards compatability, both of which this Wii Mini does not have.

I don't know anyone that uses the Wii for netflix. Most people I know use their 360's or PS3s for Netflix to use with their hdmi's.

I have 3 wii's that are all Netflix and Hulu boxes. I bought my last one for my mom for her bday. She loves it. Easiest machine to use period for apps like Netflix.

Except in this case he isn't. What sux about the mini besides no online is no component out. Such a crap decision and it is worthless to mod when you can buy used ones with all features for 50 bux.

That's precisely what I was thinking.

I'm sure it wont bog down the sales of the Wii U considering how the Wii's sales and promotions have dropped considerably since a couple of years ago.

You fool! Wii U is a far superior choice to Wii at this point; PARTICULARLY the Wii mini.

seriously, who uses a 360 to watch netflix a service that you are already paying for, and you can't watch netflix (the thing you are already paying for) without paying MORE money. I don't wanna get on a rant about how much i hate xbox live but I will just leave it at that.

Because Xbox Live is generally used for games, not streaming. Think of being able to stream Netflix as a bonus of Xbox Live; sure, you also watch Netflix using your computer, but you can also stream it through your Xbox through your (potentially) nicer TV for viewing also. It's not nearly as preposterous as you make it sound.

And the fact that XBL has been predominately the best online out of any of the consoles. XBL chat and group chat, friends list, communication, and marketplace have been far superior to that of PSN which is why I gladly would pay for xbl. None of my real life friends play online with ps3 mainly due to it's cumbersome as fuck message, chat, trophie, and until recently marketplace. While Sony is in a great direction offering free games for Plus which Microsoft is pathetically trying to imitate by offering ages old games. Also them ads on Xbox.

regardless, all those others a good examples. Nintendo isn't only guilty of it and people are just using this as more fuel to jump on the "Hate Nintendo Bandwagon."
