Lol I'm glad to see I'm not the only person with this problem. For me a huge part is I have ADD bad and a game has to really get its hooks into me for me to stick with it till the end. I can mix things up by playing an quick old school game like say MM2 on the NES or a Genesis Beat-em-up or shooter but I can't play a 2nd newer game without getting sidetracked. Another problem I have is that my backlog is so large now it's intimidating at times and I don't even know what I want to try and start. |

RPGs can be tough to finish sometimes. I finished Ni No Kuni last year and it only took me 40 hours to finish. That wasn't too bad. I'm playing Persona 4 Golden now and I'm 50 hours in. I looked to see how many dungeons there are and I think I'm only like half way through! I like the game but I'm starting to burn out a little. Long RPGs are hard to stick with. Especially because there are times when I want to play something else for a little bit but if I do then I'm not making any progress in the RPG I'm playing. Dark Souls on the other hand was a long game that I enjoyed playing the entire time. I think part of it has to do with variety. In Dark Souls you go to different environments and fight different enemies and in Persona 4 the dungeons look different, but the battles are pretty much the exact same thing every single time except for the bosses. |

Sleeping Dogs was awesome. Underrated in my opinion. |

Yeah, I have to try to space things out. I never used to encounter it before, but of course, I rarely came across more games at any time than after I started listening to AGG and getting involved in the community. |

i am terrible with staying disciplined on 1 game as you can tell by my massive backlog. http://www.backloggery.com/toolzz this is also a great site to track your backlogs at...some were asking earlier in the thread...i use this for all games including physical and digital....and use spreadsheets for just physical collections. Some other advice i have is just to not go all out in one genre at a time can get burnt out on a genre really quickly. |

same here. i have beaten like 3 games in the last 4 months or so. But then again, considering my job is a seasonal one, damn summer's taking most of my time and energy, and only get to play like a couple of hours a day. back log...? over 200 maybe? |

This got me thinking about my childhood and probably most people's here also. Remember when you had to cherish every game you got? You couldn't just go out and buy games anytime you wanted; you only got a game once in a while. I don't think it was a big problem back then to finish a game. I played the hell out of the games I got as a kid, but I guess adulthood has spoiled many of us. |

yea thats a great point i remember waiting weeks to be able to go to funcoland and buy tony hawk pro skater on the n64......i also had trouble beating games as a kid because i am ass at games, but playing games now i realize i was way better when i was a kid. was definitely a lot less patient back then too. I do remember playing a lot of few games, i use to play sonic 2 before school every morning and would get a little further each time.

Personally, I suggest not playing two games of the same genre at the same time. Especially with RPGs, it's easy to become sidetracked if you start the opening of one of them, but fail to follow through with the rest of the game. Despite sudden urges to play a game, hold off on playing it if you aren't sure you'd be able to finish it. That's my strategy at least. |
