I was wondering if Gamecube games that has been released in japan and north american if the Japanese version has a English setting like say I buy Zelda Twilight Princess (Japanese Version) is there a english text setting? The reason I am asking such a weird question is I really like the boxes of the Japanese Gamecube games and was going to kinda just switch to Japanese games.

Check if the English version has a Japanese option first, if it doesn't then the Japanese version probably doesn't have an English option either

I'm not sure but Gamecube games are region locked, so you'll need a JP system I think? I'm not sure on the specifics of a modded Wii, if they can play import gamecube or just import Wii games.

A modded wii (I have softmodded mine) and it can play import wii and gamecube titles but I am getting a japanese gamecube that is modded with a region free chip from Luke Morse so that is why I was asking.

Gotcha. I have a softmodded Wii as well so I was unaware. I knew Wii games would with no issue but I've always had issues with Gamecube games on mine. I think my laser is just dying on it, which really blows.

Hopefully you won't need a transformer for that JP gamecube. Those things are pricey, one of the only reasons I haven't picked up an import system.

I would think since Nintendo is based in Japan that anything made for the Japanese market would just have a Japanese language option while anything released outside of Japan would include that country's language and Japanese.

The games are primarily going to be in Japanese with Kana. Some of the menus and in game menus will have a bit of English here and there depending on the game but all the pertinent dialogue will be in Katakana, Hiragana, and Kanji.

Linear Action games, Platformers and shooters you can muddle through but with Heavily story driven games like open action, survival horror and RPG's you'll be lost if you don't learn JP to at least an intermediate level. Sorry bud.
