With many YouTubers posting videos about the venerable TG-16 on its 25th Anniversary, I was wondering what experiences people here on the forums had with the system. My history with it is a bit complex. I was not allowed to buy an SNES when it launched in 1991, so I had to choose another system and I went with the TG. Because I really wanted the SNES, I always saw the Turbo as a second rate system and never really appreciated it fully. I do remember getting it Christmas Morning and popping in Keith Courage in Alpha Zones, which was pretty underwhelming, but I still played through it. R-Type, Legendary Axe, and the Bonk games were my staples. I also loved Air Zonk and Blazing Lasers. The following year, I got a Genesis, relegated my TG-16 to the closet and then just gave it away, along with all of my CIB games. I really regret doing that, but regret even more that I severely underestimated the system and all that it had to offer. What about you guys? |

I've only ever seen one TG-16 in my life and it is still in the store I saw it in, inside it's beat up box with a $499 orange price tag label on the front, because obviously that's how much they sell for on ebay! Now I grew up in this era so it is odd that this is the only one I've seen, but I've always been interested in the system. Maybe someday I'll come across one in the wild. |

I've played a bunch of games on virtual console and I quite like it, only seen it in one store and same as eSkilliam they still have it, don't remember the pricing though and it wasn't in a box. |

I bought mine around 2000. Back then, I would buy strange systems that my local game stores would get in that I'd never heard of. This curiosity I had encouraged me to pick up systems like the TG16, Gamecom, Atari 7800, etc. I think I picked up the TG16 console only with Pac Land, Bonks Adventure, and Legendary Axe 2 (all loose) for $40-50. I played the system a bit and was intrigued with it but used it more as a conversation piece than anything. I tried playing it a few years ago and couldn't get it to work. I want to try to get back into the system but the games are very pricey at the moment.

I didn't even know the Turbo-Grafx existed until I started watching Chris Bucci's videos! lol. It looks like a great system I'm just really surprised I never saw one, or knew someone that had one since I was surrounded by just about every other system as a kid...excluding the really old ones like Atari 2600, Collecovision, etc. |
