Hey all. I am thinking of importing a Japanese PS4 into America so I can get the Dragon Quest slime edition. I just had a few quesitions still
1. is the power adapter same in USA and Japan. I heard it is.
2. Will I be able to set menu language to English
3. will I be able to install Netflix, Hulu, Amazon Prime of which I am members of already?
4. Will O and X buttons be reversed for accessing menu?
5. I know the PS4 is universal but just making sure I can play any country game on it?
6. Will I be ok to use a USA PSN?

Never owned a foreign system in my life but Dragon Quest Slime Edition is too awesome to pass up [sonicrun]

EDIT: Wow I didnt know ps4 doesnt even support DNLA that is ridiculous! I guess I will be using my PS3 and WiiU for media...

1.) Yes
2.) Yes
3.) Not sure, but CheapyD (cheapassgamer.com owner) lives in Tokyo and he's able to use his American Netflix, Prime video, etc so I'm assuming it works.
4.) No idea, I hate that in MGS lol.
5.) PS4 is region free and will play any PS4 game from any country.

6.) From what I understand the PS4 is the same as the PS3 with how region functionality works. Games are region free, but DLC is region locked. So you can't buy a game in Japan and then use an American account to buy DLC for it. If you want Japanese content you'll need to make a Jap account and buy yen on ebay or something. Your American account will work on a Japanese PS4 though.

I honestly don't care too much about getting import games unless they have some arcade shmups later. I really just want the Japaense system so I can get the special edition Slime Version. This is sounding like a strong case for me to order it. Only drawback is the DVD player is region locked but I have others.

^ Yes. Not all but enough to where you should check prior to buying a movie. Unless you have one of those region free Blu-Ray players. They're about $130 on Amazon and play everything.

^ Music CD's are region free. Basically DLC, and movies are what you have to worry about with buying a foreign PS4/PS3.
