Alright assbutts, lemme tell you about a real videogame. None of this sonic or mario malarky. Let's play some good games for once.

:: ABOUT ::

Grandfather to CRPGs (computer role playing games), the original Wasteland game was released 26 years ago, on PC, C64 and Apple II and not only gathered a very passionate cult following, but went on to spawn the obscene popular Fallout series. Yes, that's right assbutts. This is Fallout's daddy. And don't you go forgetting it.

Fed up with constant publisher rejections to make a sequel, Brian Fargo turned to Kickstarter for support.

61,290 backers later, $2,933,252 richer and 2 and a half years in development, Wasteland 2 was finally ready.

Gameplay

Wasteland 2 features a semi-overhead view with a rotatable camera.[11] It is a turn-based and party-based role-playing game with tactical combat. The player's party has room for seven characters,[12] including the four player-designed characters and up to three non-player characters (NPCs).[13] The player characters can be highly customizable and the player's choice of statistics, skills, and appearance will give them an individualized personality. The non-player characters in the party will each have their own personality, motivations, opinions, and agendas.[14]

Plot

The game is set in an alternate history timeline, in which a nuclear holocaust took place in 1998 in relation to an impact event involving a cluster of meteors that sparked a global nuclear war. On the day of the cataclysm, a company of U.S. Army Engineers were in the desolate southwestern desert constructing bridges in an area with a number of small survivalist communities and a newly constructed federal death row prison with light industrial facilities. The soldiers sought shelter in the prison, expelled the inmates, and invited nearby survivalists to join them shortly thereafter. Years later, together they formed "the Desert Rangers, in the great tradition of the Texas and Arizona Rangers", to help other survivors in the desert and beyond it.

The game begins fifteen years after the events of the original Wasteland, as the experienced ranger Ace is found dead with signs of violence on his body by locals. This greatly troubles General Vargas, the leader of the Desert Rangers, as he just a few days prior sent Ace out to investigate a strange radio signal that speaks of "man and machine becoming one" while threatening to attack and wipe out the Desert Rangers. Controlling a squad of newly recruited rangers, the player is tasked with finding out who killed Ace and why they did it, and try to complete Ace's original mission.

Ladies and gentlemen, allow me to introduce you to your Game of the Year 2014.

This game is beyond hype. I pledged $120 as part of the kickstarter, and don't regret a single dime. While I haven't had time to play much, the sense of nostalgia of the original 2 Fallout games has got me raging a boner. It's the perfect mix of nostalgia, with new mechanics, graphics and gameplay.

And dat soundtrack.... hnnnghhh. Mark Morgan has outdone himself.

I'm pretty hyped to try this out. I tried going through the old Fallout games, but they're just too dated for me. But this looks completely playable, and my love for these post-apocalyptic games is huge! I'll totally give it a go!

Aye, in certain regards, the older Fallouts are difficult to get into for newcomers. Temple of Trials in F2 being a prime example.

Take this freedom of choice, update it for modern gamers, and BOOM. W2.

However, don't expect a casual, easy play through. There's still alot of tactics and design making to be done. Save often (F9) and don't be scared homie.

Can't wait to get time to play it, been waiting for a proper RPG to make it's way out for a long time. Just had no time to play it since it's release though, once this game is done i should have way more free time to indulge in the wasteland!
