I've put close to 15 hours in this game since Monday...and yeah, I have over 40 hours in Smash for the 3DS. I really would love playing against more people on the forum (played against AnnoyingNavi a couple days ago), so post your Nintendo Network names! (Mine's in the sig, but if you can't read my sig because of the Chrome issues, it's CronoLink9...real complicated.) :D If you all wanna sometime, we should try to organize times for tournaments or just nights of playing all together...it'd be great!

On a serious note, I thought this game was ok, not great. I like how some characters like Sonic, Little Mac and Duck Hunt Dog play, however I don't find this game is the kind fun or addiction I had when I was a teenager playing Melee. Times have changed I guess, but I really do like some of the touches they made to this game, like how perfectly they've depicted Sonic and his stages and whatnot.
I disagree. I think it went above and beyond my expectations, I am approaching 130 hours on the Wii U version alone. The addiction aspect is a whole different beast for me now than what it was in Brawl and before. I loved Melee and Brawl to death, but I have been able to get into the Wii U version in a different way than the others, perhaps because of my age and the fact that I can actually hold my own reasonably well now. The thrill of playing For Glory 1-on-1 online is so different than how I ever used to even think of playing Smash Bros. I find myself rarely using items and just admiring the pure brilliance of the vanilla gameplay and coming up with new strategies and adapting to new characters all the time. The game is constantly evolving and it shows no signs of stopping, with no characters and modes in the pipeline for the future. Just like Mario Kart 8, Nintendo seem to be making an effort to keep Smash Bros. fresh with regular updates and now DLC.

Agreed, but it may just be to my preferences changing over time. I think for me Smash Bros. just didn't last the test of time like Mario Kart has. I loved Mario Kart as a kid and love it to this day, but Smash Bros was great on 64 and Gamecube but I couldn't care less anymore. The Wii U version is definitely better than Brawl at least, but it isn't a system seller like I considered Melee to be for the Gamecube. I play a match or two and have had my fill, whereas Melee was pretty much an all day ordeal for me when it came out.

Wow, those were some great matches we played KBK! You were annihilating me in the first matches, I started reversing it, then we about evened out. You're a little better than me I'd say, though, so now I know have a challenge to work at. ;)

I totally agree with you. Additionally, I feel that the metagame for this game is far more even than it ever was before. Sure, Diddy Kong, Rosalina + Luma, and a couple of the others have significant advantages over some of the other characters...but unlike in Melee and Brawl, I feel that everyone actually has a chance in mid-level play, even perhaps in high-level play. There aren't characters that are particularly broken like Fox in Melee and Meta Knight in Brawl, and if there were at any point (some said Diddy Kong was Meta Knight levels of broken before the update nerfed him a little bit), they've been remedied, something not very many people were expecting. I have had fun playing with items, without items, in For Glory, and in 1 Player modes. I still haven't been able to beat Classic on 9.0 intensity, either...it's unbelievable!

I'm definitely liking this version. Haven't spent too much time online for glory yet, but friend play is pretty fun and mostly lag free. This game is simply gorgeous and the soundtrack is massive and beautiful. Looking forward to Ryu/Lucas DLC soon, especially Ryu. Can't wait to see what his smash ball attack is. Hopefully it's a combo finishing with his ultra hadouken to completely annihilate the victim. Also, they really need Bayonetta in this game. Its a no-brainer. She has a myriad of awesome attacks and she would hopefully have a new playstyle so the epicness would increase tenfold. Think about how epic her Amiibo would look too. Plus you could add in some Bayonetta 2 Amiibo functionality and boom, you wont be able to sell enough of her amiibo. Knowing nintendo they wont mass produce a character as badass as bayo, so naturally she'll be $50+ on ebay in days. Bring back the Ice Climbers while you're at it Nintendo!

Nintendo needs to make a season pass or a character DLC pass or something. I don't wanna have to buy each character they come out with since it will get expensive over time. I probably will end up getting all of them regardless but it'd be nice if they did that for people looking to have every character for a reduced price. Also very glad they have been updating this one pretty regularly for character balance and such. It gives you that reassurance that they wont just drop this games support anytime soon.

I think it's much more aligned with what Ninjapenguin is talking about where preferences are changing. I'm 100% behind him that this game is better than Brawl, which I legitimately thought was a downgrade when it released, and believe my enjoyment of Smash 4 is based on my current taste in games. There's just no way I could be bothered playing more than a few games without getting bored, and I don't think a leveled meta could change that. Actually, the gameplay would have to be addictive enough to get me to try to grasp the meta.

Smash Bros. just never gets old for me, this one in particular. As a series, Smash Bros. is one of the only ones I can think of where I practically never turn down the opportunity to play it, and it's always an easy go-to choice for a party/multiplayer game. More and more layers in the gameplay just keep unfolding!

Ya know what? I actually don't mind Mario Party 10. If I had actual people to play with, I'd probably pop it in my console more often. :/

Yeah, Nintendo definitely dropped the ball with no online play for MP10. WiiU is its most online console yet, and i'm willing to bet less people get together to play games like they used to. An random match option would have been fantastic, same with friend play. I would've waited a couple more months for them to get that mode working. Mario Party 10 isnt half bad otherwise. The riding in the same car thing is not terrible and not a deal breaker like everyone makes it out to be. If its that bad, play Mario Party 10. If you don't like Wii Motion controls, all the Mario Partys on GameCube are solid. Does anyone know if the Amiibo mode for MP10 is worth it? In smash bros id say it is. You can level up your amiibo to 50 so they have unhuman reaction times and just dodge everything you do and punish you. They are nice to practice on if you want to play less predictably. Fun to mess with their abilities too.

Say, there seems to be more interest in this game as opposed to MK8 in this forum. Would a SSB4 game night possibly work out? o:

It's traditional Mario Party, but with the most bland boards in the game and a pretty big reliance on luck and other random factors. It's fun for a nice little distraction, but I think it's definitely not worth investing in amiibo to dedicate just to that game since for some stupid reason you can't have data for both Smash Bros. and Mario Party 10 on the same amiibo.

I'm down to play whenever you want, but if we want to do an organized game night we can do that as well.

Well, while I know Melee had more allowance for high level technical metagame, I appreciate that they seem to have gotten the exact control scheme they were working towards in this version. In melee, the upper level mechanics (like wave-dashing, etc.) that were exploited gamers later on after the game's release didn't seem like the developers saw them coming. With Brawl, I thought that their new "tripping" mechanic was planned, but totally lame. So I feel like this time around, they got it right. I think this game is AMAZEBALLS.
I like to use Link, Little Mac, and Luigi. (I tried to use Link in Brawl, but he turned out to be too gimp to win in the tourneys. :C )
