Something on last gen preferably, since I don't have any current gen systems yet and don't really have good access to anything before the last gen at the moment. *any handheld is fine if theres a good one to play

So I've wanted to check out some of the games for a while, where should i start? which series is the best? best in whichever series?

Thanks in advance :)

I liked splinter cell on the PS2/Xbox.

Also, H.A.W.X. is a fun game.

Rainbow Six is my favorite personally. Unfortunately both Vegas games are dead multiplayer wise which is really where RS shines, but terrorist hunt is a super fun co-op mode that can be played locally. You might be able to find a game or two but it depends on the time of day.

Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter 1 was pretty good, hated GRAW2, and Future Soldier was just weird. It barely has a resemblance to GR and feels more like a COD GR hybrid. The older Ghost Recon games were way better than the 360 offerings imo.

Splinter Cell Double Agent and BlackList have awesome spies vs mercs multiplayer. Double Agent's campaign sucks, but Blacklist has a good one. Conviction/bumb fight Fisher is my least favorite. Chaos Theory is probably the best Splinter Cell game but it's on OG Xbox.

Agreed HAWX 1 is a solid game. Wasn't a fan of the sequel though.

The biggest problem with recommending Tom Clancy games is that unless they're new you're not going to get the full experience. At this point they're either dead or you're up against some dedicated mofos. I see Rainbow Six and Ghost Recon like Battlefield where they technically have a campaign but the real draw is the multiplayer since the campaigns are forgettable/there to train you. COD does a way better job of making a campaign worth playing in addition to great multiplayer.

A rule of thumb for me is be very cautious with any modern Clancy games. Splinter Cell has completely lost direction, the Vegas series was a smack in the face for Rainbow Six fans and don't even get me started with Ghost Recon. Honestly your best bet is to stick with the classics.

My favorites are: Rainbow Six: Raven Shield, Rainbow Six, Splinter Cell 1-3, Ghost Recon: Island Thunder and Ghost Recon 1 on PC

I personally don't feel like I would have missed out on anything if I skipped out on anything else. Advanced Warfighter was good but it's not worth picking up without multiplayer, the singleplayer was awful. Same goes for Vegas except I'd take Advanced Warfighter any day of the week over Vegas. The only ones I might want to add are the modern Splinter Cell entries. They aren't Splinter Cell games, at least not to me, but they ARE really good games.

Stay far away from the more recent Ghost Recon games, not only are they terrible Ghost Recon games, they are terrible in general.

As for spin offs.... give Endwar a shot for sure, just be sure to use the voice command and not controller. What an awesome little RTS that was.

HAWX are okay I suppose but as a long time Ace Combat player they don't really interest me. Just feel like half baked Ace Combat games with some arcadey twists to them.

I've never played the Hunt for Red October but I mean to and heard it's great as well.

Give DanHibikiFan's videos on Tom Clancy and tactical shooter games a peruse too, he knows his shit when it comes to them.

Yup Raven Shield and Island Thunder ftw!!! Loved Rainbow Six 3 on Xbox too.

I couldn't stand that video though omg. I seriously hate people like that...everything was negative. Even the positive stuff was followed by negative...people like that drive me nuts. Like why bother playing video games then. He starts out being negative about current shooters and just shits on ones he likes too... :/

I'd recommend Vegas out of the 360 offerings, and maybe GRAW1 if you can find some buds to do coop. Vegas 2 and GRAW2 are so buggy.

You can get a Hd collection of the first 3 splinter cell games for 360/ps3 and i would recommend that. Chaos Theory is one of the best stealth games ever.

I liked Blacklist and Double Agent as well.

Ghost Recon and Rainbow Six are great but you must go into these games understanding that they are not Call of Duty. If you go running forward you will die. These are games that require and reward forethought and planning.

I think it's only on PS3 and unfortunately those are the PS2 versions that they remastered for that collection :[ Problem being that the Xbox versions were way better and even had more expansive levels than the PS2 versions did. Not sure why Ubisoft did that. I know that Chaos Theory on Xbox at least was insanely better than its PS2 counterpart from my own experience.

Oh man Raven Shield. Yes. So many hours spent on my crappy old laptop doing all the planning and stuff for each mission, that was by far my favourite part of the game. Why don't they make them like that anymore :(

Most of the older GR games are great too, going in to them if you are a fan of the modern military shooter might be difficult though, they are nothing like the majority of the genre today.

I loved Endwar, but it's very different. It becomes pretty simplistic eventually too, but having an entire battle play out while you actually order your units over the mic is such a unique feeling.

As someone who put a lot of time into the xbox version of chaos theory I saw no differences between this version and that one other than higher resolution visuals.

Is the ds version of endwar good?

And I'm confused, should I get that hd collection or no? XD

Yeah if it's under $20 bucks go for it. Chaos Theory is the shit! BlackList is way more action heavy over stealth but I thought the campaign was pretty badass. It's young Fisher though so it was weird not having Michael Ironside do the voice.

You should just pick up the first game of each franchise that came to 360 since they're so cheap and try them out. I mean Rainbow Six is $3 bucks, and Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter is 99 cents at Gamestop. I think the most expensive one on 360 at this point is BlackList which is $10 new on Amazon lol. None of these games are going to be a huge risk.

Ds Games!

Ghost Recon Shadow Wars is a great grid based strategy type game on the 3ds. The 3d is nice, there's plenty of gameplay, and it's very cheap now. It's not the usual Clancy experience but it's still a Clancy game so I'm suggesting it.
