I checked out a bunch of videos and I ended up ordering the new Raspberry Pi 2 model B from amazon along with a case and a 64 GB micro SD card. Can't wait for this stuff to get here next week! Raspberry Pi 2 Basic Kit ($54.99 w/Prime) http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00DG9D6IK/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 Sony 64GB microSDXC Class 10 ($29.95 w/Prime) I checked webpage and it says this card works without issues! http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00E1XI94Q/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 Transparent Case Enclosure Box +Heatsink Kit ($9.90 w/Prime) http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00R4WQIMG/ref=od_aui_detailpages00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 HDMI Cable ($5.49 w/Prime) http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B003L1ZYYM/ref=od_aui_detailpages00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 Microsoft Xbox 360 Wireless Controller for Windows ($40.00 w/Prime) http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B004QRKWKQ/ref=od_aui_detailpages00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 Total cost is $140.33 for what should be a solid emulation machine If I can get everything working. I found this setup video on youtube that I will be using... This guy (TechTipsta) has a lot of videos on using the Raspberry Pi 2 for emulation. Check his channel out if your interested. https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC0j9NXPwJTa-_aPgyF1_eLg Edited by majinpowers, Mar 13 2015, 10:07 PM.

You may wanna buy a wifi adaptor. Make things a little easier? for me - it was fiddly getting my ps3 pads working on bluetooth. But its kinda sorted now. when you run retropie-setup - downlosd current binaries. The one that takes 24+ hours. Make it easier on yaself. |

lol well that added up to more than I expected. I guess not having the pad and SD card already inflates it quite a bit. That's a good tutorial, using the latest image cuts out a lot of hastle and time. Transferring stuff to the Pi via USB is easy as balls (if a bit slow for large files), but if it's connected to your home network via wired or wifi you can also transfer files that way. Honestly the most difficult part is getting the bios in the right place for the emu's that need them, but I found it pretty easy once I got used to the command line. One other thing, don't put the heatsink on right away. On older models at least, instances of the Pi generating enough heat to actually justify it were quite rare, and as far as I know it actually made some Pi's run hotter than they would have without one. Good luck, it probably won't take you all that much effort to get working right, but it's a pretty good feeling when you've got it all running smoothly nonetheless

I for one look forward to any progress updates because I've been tempted to go the Raspberry Pie emulation route myself. SNES and Genesis carts are just getting too dang expensive so this seems to be one of the better options for retro gaming on a TV. Buying Flash carts for every retro console would cost way more. I now have the 2.6 raspberry pi 2 OS image install, I overclocked the system to the pi 2 setting updated the retro pi updater to get the latest OS and Emulator updates. updated the OS using the binary method updated to the new SNES9x EMU that uses retroarch config files for the controllers. I finally got both my wireless 360 controllers working with retroarch conf so they are both working in SNES like that should be! Edited by majinpowers, Mar 18 2015, 02:54 PM.

It is bad ass man. I am so glad I got one of these! Thanks OMEGAlomania for recommending it! so far I have only setup the SNES but i have over 700 games running on the system and everything is working great. I just got it yesterday and only took me one evening messing around to finally figure out how to get the controllers working. this seems to be the hardest thing for people to get working. these youtube channels were a huge help to me.... TechTipsta https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ySoTQhQqZdI Herb Fargus https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCYdB7MovoH6yCzkVjTXeiIw This was how I got the controllers working.... I used the 3rd method because it uses less CPU and Memory https://github.com/petrockblog/RetroPie-Setup/wiki/Setting-up-the-XBox360-controller That controller page setup might look a little scary but once you have putty installed you can just copy and paste that stuff and have everything from start to finish working in a hour counting the updating of the OS. OMEGAlomania or AndsyRR.... seems to be the same problem here... http://blog.petrockblock.com/forums/topic/issues-with-pcengine-games-not-running/ I have tried getting different roms but I don't think that is the issue. I have tried changing the video holding m when entering the emu but that don't seem to do anything. one guy on there said i needed to change the video driver but I have no idea how to do that! So far I got these working... NES SNES GBA GBC MegaDrive Sega CD 32X Master System TurboGrafx -16 / PCE Turbo DUO (CD Games) PlayStation Turns out the PCE issues were bad roms. seems most of the dumps out there are bad but stuff like magic engine will run them anyways. I now have MAME and NEOGEO working as well. more or less I have everything setup and working like I want it. This little box has so many games loaded it's insane! I'm so glad i picked this thing up as me and my friends have had a ton of fun playing it. I think I'm going to get a few of these for Christmas presents this year. |

Honestly I was about to make a thread related to the OUYA. Have heard some mixed reviews, more negative then not. Was interesting, was curious on how everyone feels about that little thing, personally love the idea of it not so much all of the execution. |

What was you wanting to get a OUYA for? Was you wanting a emulation box? I have been very happy with the Raspberry Pi 2 for a emulation box. It took me a few days of reading and looking around on the net and some trial and error but its well worth it. The Pi has plenty of support and you can use any kind of controllers you want with it! |

I was sort of wanting an emulation box, but I don't think the OUYA would be the best choice. Might have to check some videos out on the Raspberry Pi 2 based on what you said now, and see how that looks, never heard anything about it really sounds much better. |
