http://www.ign.com/articles/2015/03/17/meet-dena-nintendos-newly-announced-mobile-game-partner Weird huh? I don't know how to feel about this. Sure, it's going to be a dream come true for a lot of people that don't own a 3ds, that just want a mobile Nintendo experience. But, I think that this won't be that great, considering how I don't already like A LOT of mobile games(I like 2 maybe), and I already own a 3ds. I understand this why they are doing this though. Since Nintendo is a business, and is just trying to make more money, but I don't see a lot of people wanting to play the next Mario on their phone, maybe a runner, but a full fledged 2-d one. I can see Pokemon though, since a lot of people already play Pokemon on their phones emulated. Thoughts? |

So I don’t see Nintendo abandoning or leaving the hardware market (at least not yet), especially the 3DS. That is their money maker right now and in japan handhelds are doing better than home consoles so I don’t see Nintendo killing off there handheld by putting ALL of their software on this new …service? Nintendo does have franchises that make more sense on a phone. You said Pokemon but there are things like WarioWare and Rhythm Haven that could end up doing better on a phone. Then you have the new puzzle match 3 puzzles games that Nintendo put a skin on. Unlike Sony and Microsoft, Nintendo is just as much a hardware complete as a software company in the video game world. Sony or Microsoft would be just fine if they stopped making game tomorrow. Nintendo on the other hand would not. Like it or not phone games are a big enough force right now that Nintendo was going to get into that market at least a little. |

Buttons forever. Why is it surprising they are working on next gen already? It's been 3 years and the next will probably be out in 4-5 years so it's expected that they would put a lot of work into it. |

Yeah I agree. The 3ds is their money maker but they are just expanding their business. I also agree with you that, Nintendo is just as much in the hardware company, as much as any other hardware company. So, I don't see them abandoning the hardware market for at least 10-15 years from now. |

I think it has to do with people not being able to remember the transition between the ps2 to ps3. I'm not that shocked, but I would rather have it announced next year, and then get it 2017. |

Looking forward to seeing what they come up with. Would love to play a Nintendo game on my iPad, but they can fuck right off if their plan is to make more games like Pokeman Shuffle. That bullshit Candy Crush model needs to die in a fire. |

This saddens me. I see this as less resources to current projects or just more money being spent for them. Cmon! Beef up that WiiU library.. |

I could care less about mobile gaming, but it's a smart financial move. |

Ds Games!

Personally as i despise downloading games digitally, I hope this doesn't take away from efforts going towards 3ds games. It would be nice if this has the reverse effect and has people opening up to nintendo more, purchasing 3ds and wii u consoles after playing some mobile games, and thus providing a bigger demand for more games on these two systems. Either way, this was inevitable and it's too large of a market for them to not have tapped into. |

Honestly I'm welcoming the idea of Nintendo going into a mobile market. When they released a sneak peak at what they could do with Pokemon Shuffle. I know that it's a "candy crush" esque game but it's a lot more evenly spaced and better designed than that. The micro transactions are there, but you really don't need them. The game provides the right amount of items at the right time in order to avoid using the micro transactions. Just releasing this game for free to every 3DS was a smart move just to show people what to kinda expect out of the market. I really don't think as Pokemon Shuffle as a "candy crush" game but as a puzzle game, almost a nod to Pokemon Puzzle Academy for the Gameboy Colour which had that challenge mode kinda like this game, just with some mobile tropes we have begun to expect when it comes to mobile games l. |
