Pretty crazy if it turns out to be true. Metal Gear is OK but I hope Silent Hills turns out to be good :[ I'd really like a stellar Silent Hill game for a change which PT got me excited for.

A fallout between Kojima Productions and its owning publisher, Konami, has led to senior staff at the studio being restricted access to corporate internet, emails, and phone, GameSpot understands.

Along with the restricted communications, key developers at the studio, such as Hideo Kojima, will now have limited opportunities to lend their appearance to promotions of the studio’s upcoming game, Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain. Power struggles between Kojima Productions and Konami have led the publisher to make drastic changes, including the employee status of its Metal Gear team. Some senior staff at the studio, including Kojima, now essentially work as contractors, not permanent employees.

The extraordinary measures were revealed by a source within the studio, speaking to GameSpot on the condition of anonymity. The person explained that, once the Phantom Pain project is finished, in all likelihood the management at the studio will disband.

"After we finish MGSV, Mr. Kojima and upper management will leave Konami. They said their contract ends in December," the source claimed.

The person added: "At a team meeting, Mr Kojima explained that team have to be one and make a good game for fans."

This may sound strange but this doesn’t COMPLETELY surprise me. I feel like Konami has been starting to go a “safer” route in the last few years. If you look at the last few years Pro Evolution Soccer is a big part of their catalog. The amount of time and money they have to put into a MGS game, even with the name i feel like it may be a more risking venture then we think. Or at the very least the amount of capital they have to put up front is more than they want. I think Hideo Kojima legitimately wants to make more that MGS games and I don’t know if Konami want to put the money behind something that doesn’t have some brand recognition. As much as I love MGS game there is just absolutely crazy shit that happens that doesn’t make any scene. If it wasn't Hideo Kojima pitching a MGS game I don’t think he could sell a lot of those ideas to a publisher.

Ds Games!

As long as he can continue to create games with a team that are a great quality, I'm fine with whatever the outcome is. Konami has been going downhill recently I feel, and maybe his talent will be better off somewhere else.
