Seems to be getting stellar reviews. What are your guys' thoughts on and did it live up to the hype? I hear it's harder than the Souls games :[ I might try it after a big price drop because I know it will make me mad. lol.

I've just been tuning into a stream, spoiling the entire game. The game looks too same-y so far, and it doesn't seem like there is a huge diversity of enemies. Graphically, it's a definite upgrade; the textures look nice and how the little details sway doesn't seem to of been possible on the PS3. Can't comment on the gameplay, it is faster pace than Dark, and the lack of a shield is interesting.

^ I'm not trying to be confrontational but do you feel that you get a good sense of the visuals based on Youtube videos? To me Youtube videos never look anywhere near as good as they do on my tv. I just feel like watching games is nowhere near the same experience as me playing it imo.

Maybe I wouldn't notice the nuances in the colors/lighting, even in a high quality video, but that doesn't phase me too much. I still play games on a CRT. I know what you mean though, I have been blown away by many PC games in the past for reasons that don't translate completely on video.

Watched a live stream this morning of it, not the full game, about 25 minutes, looks great, when I get a PS4, I will probably get it. In about 4 years.

I'll get it when I get a PS4, though I'm not expecting to make it far. Anyone who knows my history with Dark Souls will understand why...I'm sure crazykrafft will elaborate ;)

I think it looks beautiful, but no PS4. Will look into it once I get one, though...and once I finally get around to playing the Souls games.

Nice dude. How is this story? Is it actually decent or fairly half assed? I haven't read any reviews just looking at people's reactions primarily.

It's very much a "souls experience" when it comes to story. The absolute basics are there but FROM is not known to hold your hand or force feed are story to you. Item descriptions and exploration give a good bit of the story. I can say that I played 5 to 6 hours yesterday and when I get tired and headed to bed all I could think about was playing it again. I have not had this feeling on a game in probably the better part of a decade.

You'll die to the load times instead. In honesty, it looks more challenging in the sense that it's less straightforward and has a number of new elements that differentiates itself from the Souls series, but it also seems less cheap so far.

Easily, one of the better games to come out this year. Not many games are getting as much praise as this game. With a 93 on metacritic, this game is a must own to ps4 owners.

I am probably a bit past the midway point in the game so I won't make this my final decision... but this game is starting to become my favorite game in the souls series. In my opinion this is a game I would buy a system for. I can easily see myself putting hundreds of hours in to it. Demons souls still holds a special place in my heart but this games atmosphere and music are beginning to take hold on my heart.

I keep seeing ads for Bloodborne on ESPN, and every time I see it I'm like "I NEED A PS4!!!" It looks really good and I think is finally the game (in addition to FF Type-0 HD and the FFXV: Episode Duscae demo) that makes me excited for next gen consoles.

It's amazing and lives up to the hype. Here is what I wrote in games you are currently playing, "Bloodborne... I got it because of the massive hype. I've had the collector's edition pre-ordered for months and I'm really glad I did. I was one of the people first in line for Demon's Souls and it let me down. The difficulty beat me and I never got the Dark Souls games. Bloodborne had me wanting to quit, but I'm glad I stuck with it. The game trains you to become better and better, without directly having to do so. Trial and error, grinding, item management, and strategy are the keys to the game.

I actually find Bloodborne easier than Demon's Souls. The counter-attacking mechanic to get your life back is amazing. It adds so much more depth to the game. The best part of the game has to be the satisfaction of beating a massive boss. I couldn't understand people's massive satisfaction descriptions, until I beat a boss when I was cornered and on the brink of death. The final strike to take him down, covered in blood and smelling death, was truly a unique and awesome feeling."

So I got this on friday.

Game was pretty good, shorter than I would have liked and none of the boss fights really impressed me. Praising the moon would be considered heresy in my book.

You will have a hard time showing me a concrete example of a game that is better than Bloodborne. Midi... Tbh this is a game you must play to understand how the mechanic tweaks flip the script. The enemy variety is pretty damned good btw I have no idea how you think otherwise.

The game has a few technical hitches, no game is technically perfect but the level design, the tweaks to combat, the atmosphere, the graphics and even story are objectively 9 to 10 out of 10 material. This game is the 3d equivalent to Symphony of the Night.

I don't find it easier than demons souls or dark souls. I find it ... More accessible yet more unforgiving. It also offers trade offs for speed running and evasion as first class tactics (dodging and regain work well for blitzing levels). However at any time if you let your guard down you can easily die unlike in souls games you can hp and armor up and laugh at burg residents.

This has definitely moved Mass Effect series out of my favorite gaming experience of all time. 1 game unseated 3.

I gotta admit I've never played any Souls games before, but I picked this up the Wed after the release date. I haven't played much, but I think I'm just before the 3rd boss.

At first I found the game pretty hard(still do)-- no walk-through, no tips, nothing. Just played it without knowing anything, and it was pretty frustrating--- especially the camera angles at times, plus the "lock on targeting" can be annoying.

I can tell you, that when I beat this game I'm gonna yell "YEAAAHH....FUCK YOU!" with both middle fingers up at the credits. Haha, maybe not. I enjoy it, don't get me wrong.

All I hope is that this game keeps getting better!

Haven't played it yet. Seen my brother rage at it plenty of times though for "not enough checkpoints and too many one-hit-kill moves from enemies". But, I just saw a guy finish the game with the Waste of Skin class without using the gun once or leveling on youtube. The guy goes on a little singing spree at 14:00. Also, his reaction after beating it is hilarious. Had me rollin.

Final Boss level 4 waste of skin class victory.
Games I have for trade!

I've actually changed my mind since watching more of Bloodborne on Twitch. I currently blame employers not hiring me, or at least considering me as an intern, for why I haven't bought the PS4 and this game. But honestly, I'd need more games to justify getting a PS4 for. This would definitely be the first game I play when I do get one, well, maybe in tandem with Persona 5 if that has already released by the time I do get it.

Also, this is a must listen:

Necro-ing this thread.

First off it's getting DLC on November 24th so woo!

Second, I picked it up for $15 bucks and am struggling hard with it. Any tips for a sucky noob? I got to the first lantern and cannot progress past that. I tried cheating a bit by killing some enemies, going back to that sanctuary place and getting better armor, but I'm still doing terrible. I pretty much memorized everything up until the first bridge but those ogre's give me the most trouble. I just really wish there was another lantern soon because that seemed like a really far distance without a save option in between.

I like it more than Dark Souls at least and the setting is cool as hell.

I'm at 33:20 in this video. I always die either at the bridge ogre, or the one a few minutes earlier banging on the door.
